Arizona’s Republican primary voters sent a clear message Tuesday: The party still belongs to Donald Trump.
Across three marquee races – for governor and for two open U.S. House seats – the candidates he endorsed came out on top, reaffirming his grip on the state’s conservative base heading into a high-stakes midterm cycle with control of the House and Senate hanging in the balance.
The results come against the backdrop of a state that has swung sharply in Trump’s favor. Arizona backed Joe Biden by a razor-thin margin in 2020 – just 0.3 points – but flipped decisively to Trump in 2024, when he carried the state by roughly 5.5 points. That rightward shift has fueled GOP confidence heading into the fall, even as Democrats continue to hold the governorship and both Senate seats.
