GRIFFIN: “Just real quick, the facts are unequivocally different in the Trump and the Biden case.”
BEHAR: “Yeah.”
GRIFFIN: “That is a fact. Trump obstruction is the biggest issue, that he didn’t willingly and voluntarily hand over these documents. Here’s the problem in my mind.”
BEHAR: “Didn’t he steal them also?”
GRIFFIN: “He took them with him. But Biden’s — these were found these in his garage in Wilmington —“
HOSTIN: “Yes.”
Goldberg: “Yeah.”
GRIFFIN: “— and he just laughed —“
BEHAR: “Why would he have them in his garage. That’s like me having to exercise equipment in my garage.”
GRIFFIN: “But — but — but —“ [crosstalk]
BEHAR: “It’s not going to happen.” (Laughter)
GRIFFIN: “But just real quick, Donald Trump’s whole argument in his defense hinges on former presidents have mishandled classified documents. And as a former president, I have the right to declassify documents. Now I disagree with both of those.”
Goldberg: “Yeah.”
GRIFFIN: “But Joe Biden is building his defense for him. Like I hate to say it, this is much harder —“ [crosstalk]
BEHAR: “You know — you know — you know what I think? I’ve never seen a luckier person than Donald Trump. Just as with this close to getting him somehow these documents appear.”
GRIFFIN: “But you know what? But here’s the thing, Biden is wrong to have done this.” [crosstalk]
Goldberg: “Well, let’s find — let’s find out let’s find out what this is first. Again, one of the things that’s just me crazy, is before we know, it’s already been spun a specific way. I don’t want to see that. I want to see someone explain to me A, how it was possible that after all this time nobody knew this. Because to me, if you missing classified information, I don’t mean to laugh but in my house if stuff is missing, I know it’s missing.”
HOSTIN: “Doesn’t it feel like oppo research to you. Does it feel like the Republicans are behind it?”
Goldberg: “Did originally but — I’m sorry, but not — not now. Because one of the things — one of the things he’s saying is that, you know, some of these some of the locations with the docks may have been shipped in the transition. May have got it taken and put. But still, somebody — how come the people who sign the documents out to them didn’t say —“
HAINES: “I don’t know it works like that though.” [crosstalk]
HOSTIN: “Well, yes, there’s a process.”
HAINES: “Yeah. But if you sent a classified email or you’re interacting, it’s not always coming from one place.”
GRIFFIN: “Not necessarily, but here is the problem. Trump is going to argue, I didn’t bring these. Staff packed the boxes. That’s what Biden is now saying too.” [crosstalk]
Goldberg: “You know, it may be true, but his problem is that he lied about it.”
HOSTIN: “The obstruction.”
Goldberg: “He lied about it.”
BEHAR: “That’s right.”
Goldberg: “And I think when somebody — when there is something top secret that needs to go out, somebody knows it’s going. Somebody knows. And somebody should have said, ‘Hey, y’all. There’s stuff missing.’”
HOSTIN: “They better keep — get those prophesies in line immediately because we had them at the U.S. Attorney’s office which is at the Justice Department —“
Goldberg: “Right.”
HOSTIN: “— which means they need them.”
BEHAR: “Yeah.”
GGOLDBERG: “Right. So, we’ll be right back.”
