Newsweek: Two men were hospitalized after being stabbed near Central Park on Manhattan's Upper West Side on Thursday afternoon the New York Police Department (NYPD) told Newsweek, adding that a person of interest is in custody.
The New York-based Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation said on social media that the men were "visibly Jewish."
The victims, ages 57 and 50, were found with stab wounds to their torsos near West 84th Street and Central Park West at about 1:31 p.m., the New York Police Department (NYPD) told Newsweek via email. Both were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital.
Ed: It has been open season on Jews in NYC and in other parts of the US since October 7, 2023. Here in America, people should not have to worry whether they are "visibly Jewish," or visibly anything else, while in public. Douglas Murray at The Free Press: Mamdani is very clearly unbothered by facts. What he wants is the ability to make an accusation. So it is with the accusation of “genocide.” There is nothing more preposterous than the idea that what the Israel Defense Forces have done since October 7 has been a “genocide” of the Palestinians. If Netanyahu had wanted to eradicate every Palestinian from Gaza he could have done so on October 8. But obviously he didn’t. If the IDF had sought to kill as many Palestinians as possible, they would have not gone to such extraordinary lengths—lengths I have seen with my own eyes—to separate civilians from combatants, even when the line between the two has been deliberately blurred by Hamas.
Mamdani knows what he is doing here. He is not a stupid man. He is not an ignorant man. He is simply a highly ideological man who is pursuing a political and sectarian campaign against the world’s only Jewish state. Aside from personal advancement it is obvious what his real motivation is. Like other democratic socialists, Mamdani would like to shift the Overton window on Israel policy and vet candidates for future primaries over whether or not they condemn the “genocide” in Gaza. By presenting as fact the farcical claim that there has been such a thing, Mamdani and co. can then make anyone who refuses to condemn it look like an utter monster. After all, who can’t bring himself to condemn a genocide?
The push to arrest Netanyahu in New York was always going to fail. Its only purpose was to be another stepping stone in Mamdani’s and his fellow travelers’ efforts to destroy the moral legitimacy of the world’s one Jewish state, in the hope of eventually destroying the ability of that state to exist. Why they wish so fervently to achieve this goal is, of course, impossible to comprehend.

Fox News: Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy blasted USA Today columnist Nancy Armour on social media Thursday after she argued that Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark's reactions to officiating fuel racist abuse and endanger Black and queer WNBA players. ...
"She has written the dumbest paragraph not only of my lifetime but in the history of sports," Portnoy said. "This is an article that says @CaitlinClark22 arguing calls has become dangerous for the @wnba and civil rights. Nancy Armour should be out in a straight jacket and locked up. We can’t have these types of smooth brains roaming freely in society."
In her Wednesday opinion column, Armour accused Clark of flopping and said her confrontation with officials encourages a "White nationalist element" of her fan base to target opposing players.
Armour invoked the history of violence against Black Americans while arguing that Clark should recognize the broader consequences of her conduct.
Ed: When you play sports, you don't get to demand reparations. The rules apply equally to all, or you just get Calvinball. What about that is so difficult for Armour to grasp? Or, for that matter, the WNBA and its officials on the court? The fans – those the WNBA still has left – will figure it out quickly enough even with Armour calling them all racists for noticing the obvious.

Daily Caller: The U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled late Tuesday that illegal aliens do not have the constitutional right to roam the nation during their removal proceedings.
The ruling, led by Chief Judge Jennifer Elrod, appointed by George W. Bush, overturned the lower court’s decision granting bond hearings and releasing three illegal immigrants from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, putting the lower court’s orders on hold pending a full appeal.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) Civil Division’s Assistant Attorney General Brett A. Shumate said the decision makes clear that “illegal aliens do not have a constitutional right to roam free in the United States during their removal proceedings.”
Ed: This is clear from immigration law. Previous administrations adopted "catch and release" policies as a matter of discretion, but Congress created immigration statutes to keep these decisions in the executive branch rather than in Article III courts, so habeas corpus does not apply.

Ed: "Transgender athletes" is a phrase intended obfuscate common sense. The NYT made a deliberate choice in its wording, especially given that Cunningham specifically mentioned "biological men." Matt's a little off on the numbers here but got the broad strokes correct. The latest Harvard-Harris CAPS poll shows 67/33 support for excluding males from female sports, even if they have chemically or surgically transitioned. And that position is supported by 49% of all Democrats, too.

Axios: House Democrats are publicly and privately pushing for changes at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee after it spent more than $500,000 backing a failed primary candidate in Arizona.
Why it matters: The House Democratic campaign arm has faced persistent criticism this year from its members for getting more heavily involved in primaries than in past election cycles.
"I don't think they should get involved in primaries — I've said that before, I've said that directly to them," said Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), a co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus' PAC.
"I think we need to let voters do their thing. ... as the Democratic Party we should stay out of Democratic primaries."
Ed: Sorry, but this is a dumb statement. The DCCC and the NRCC exist to recruit candidates and protect seats they already hold. The Democrat Party needs to be involved in its own primaries, especially when an outside party like the DSA is poaching seats from its incumbents. What the Democrat Party should NOT do is cook their primaries, like they did to protect Biden in 2024 and to protect Hillary in 2016.

CNN: President Donald Trump has placed a new condition on a nuclear agreement with Saudi Arabia a day after formally approving it, saying the country now must join the Abraham Accords.
Trump wrote in a post on social media Thursday that the signed deal “will be approved,” but added, that it “is totally subject to Saudi Arabia joining the very respected and successful Abraham Accords.”
On Wednesday, Energy Secretary Chris Wright and his Saudi counterpart signed the agreement, which provides Saudi Arabia with a civilian nuclear program.
Ed: It's not clear that the Saudis actually agreed to this condition. They clearly want to join the Abraham Accords, but only if they can use that leverage to secure a Palestinian state. It's worth watching.
