NEW: FBI Arrests Five in Assassination Plot, Attack on White House UFC Event

The plans for Donald Trump's 80th birthday and the UFC event on the White House lawn nearly got derailed by weather, but it ended up going off without a hitch. Trump can thank the FBI for that, as agents foiled a conspiracy to create a mass-casualty event involving drones, bombs, and at least one sniper to murder people in the ensuing panic.

Agents have already arrested five people, the New York Post reports this morning:

The FBI thwarted an explosive drone attack against Sunday’s UFC Freedom 250 event on the White House South Lawn and have already taken five suspects into custody, it was revealed Tuesday.

The multi-phase terror attack allegedly involved using explosive-laden drone aircraft to strike buildings in the vicinity of the event, sparking mass panic and driving the fleeing crowd toward a sniper team poised to pick them off, officials told Fox News Digital.

A “second wave” of attackers then allegedly planned to storm the White House gate, officials said.

The number of arrests will likely rise sharply in the coming days. And the motive could be pulled from any Democrat rally in 2026:

Upon investigating a suspect’s iPhone, authorities found at least 23 users of encrypted chat app Signal involved in discussing parameters of what could have been a devastating terror attack in the heart of the nation’s capital.

A suspect told investigators the goal of the attack was to target “capitalist elites,” “billionaires” and politicians who received money from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), according to the outlet.

This would have been an attempt to decapitate the elected administration of the US:

The alleged plan included setting off explosives to cause people to evacuate, drawing them near a team of snipers, before a "second wave" would attack the White House gate, the officials reportedly told Fox News.

The event the evening of June 14 on the White House South Lawn was timed to coincide with President Donald Trump's 80th birthday and came amid the celebration for the United States' 250th anniversary. Trump and family members were in attendance, and entered the fighting ring to congratulate the champion as fireworks burst overhead at the end. Other administration officials were also present, including Vice President JD Vance, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

That's the same motive and plan that a would-be assassin tried to execute at the White House Correspondents Dinner a few weeks ago. This time, though, the plan not only included the killing of Trump and members of his Cabinet, but to deliberately target and kill large numbers of people as a form of political statement. It also included nearly two dozen people in planning the attack.

That turned out to be the fatal flaw in the plot:

A law enforcement source told CBS News that law enforcement became aware of the threat after a relative contacted them, concerned that a family member was talking about doing something nefarious in Washington, D.C.

The tip eventually led to the arrest of an Ohio man and the discovery of an informal network of individuals discussing a plot on a Signal chat. Others were taken into custody as the investigation continued.

Large-scale conspiracies tend to fail because people talk to others, and loose lips sink conspiracy ships via law enforcement penetration. That may be especially true in political plots, where the motives are more performative than in other kinds of crimes. Assuming the allegations are true, the plotters almost certainly had vastly inflated senses of moral superiority.

And why wouldn't they? Democrats from Bernie Sanders on down continually shriek about 'oligarchs' and billionaires as though they represent an existential threat not just to their socialist policies but to the very lives of voters. Democrats have used this rhetoric against Donald Trump since he descended the escalator in 2015. This is at least the fourth significant assassination attempt or plot against Trump in the past three years, and that's not a coincidence. It's a result of radicalization and hatred fanned and fomented by Democrat demagogues for political advantage.

Expect more arrests to come in the days ahead, and perhaps even more pressure to come to bear on Congress to deal with the FISA renewal as the radical Left descends into terrorism. It won't be long before our enemies abroad attempt to take advantage of the mass psychosis on the Left to wreak violence and havoc on the US, and with an election season ahead, the temptations for malevolent foreign entities will only grow.
