May be? It may be the worst scandal since Woodrow Wilson, and over the same type of incapacity. Watergate was a criminal conspiracy to cover up a dirty political campaign trick. Bidengate involves the hijacking of the presidency itself, with a conspiracy that involves senior leaders of a major political party and Cabinet officials, not to mention Vice President Kamala Harris herself. And let's not forget that the Protection Racket Media didn't just fail to uncover it, they actively acted to cover it up -- for four full years.
Watergate was a bungled frat prank in comparison.
Jake Tapper tells Piers Morgan that this scandal "may be worse than Watergate" as part of the tour for his book, which casts the "Original Sin" only in that Joe Biden sought a second term:

Morgan apparently reacted to a line in Original Sin that declared, "Joe Biden is not Richard Nixon, and this is not Watergate." A slightly longer clip on YouTube provides that context and explains why Tapper interjected to make sure that his next sentence, declaring this "an entirely different scandal," was provided for context.
So ... duly noted. However, this is still based on the argument that the scandal arose sometime in the middle of Biden's term, when he (or more likely his family and handlers) decided to run for a second term in office, By this time, even party leaders and White House staffers knew Biden was too incapacitated to handle the job at that time ... and so did most Americans, who had watched Biden deteriorate over his years in the White House. Whenever anyone challenged Biden's competency, however, they got shouted down by both Democrats and the media, lectured about "cheap fakes," and in Tapper's case, scolded over making fun of "childhood stutters."
That brings us to an interesting point about the entire premise of this book and the media coverage of the scandal now. Tapper reached out to Lara Trump and apologized to her shortly before the book came out for his on-air attack on her criticism of Biden's cognitive capacity, in which he accused her of ridiculing Biden for a speech impediment. In public, he has acknowledged that Lara Trump was right about Biden and that he was wrong, and Lara Trump confirmed that Tapper had done so privately as well:
Lara Trump: Jake Tapper called me about two months ago, actually. He said I have this book coming out. And I know everybody is saying that I should apologize to you. I plan, whenever the book comes out to go on TV and I will say you were right and I was wrong. And I guess to… pic.twitter.com/zVQTMJPAww

But here's the thing. Tapper conducted that interview five years ago, during the 2020 election. If Lara Trump was right about Biden's cognitive decline, then the "original sin" was Biden's first general election campaign for president, not his second:
Here’s what I point out about the book: If Lara was right in 2020 (as Tapper now admits) about Biden’s mental decline, then the book’s main thesis (that the problem was Biden running again in 2024) makes no sense — the problem was electing Biden in 2020.https://t.co/NDyVDYPh6o https://t.co/NQvguye4b6

Exactly. The signs were all there in 2020, but Democrats and the media conspired to push Biden across the finish line in order to defeat Donald Trump. Even in the final debate of that cycle, Biden started sundowning in the last 30 minutes and began stumbling badly in his answers, clearly confused especially on energy policy. Yet for nearly four years after that, every major establishment media outlet completely ignored that and every other indication that Biden was suffering a significant cognitive decline that practically everyone else could plainly see.
The original sin isn't the Biden 2024 campaign. It was the Get Trump By Any Means Necessary conspiracy between Democrats and the Protection Racket Media that began in 2016 and continues to this day. This is far worse than Watergate; the corruption extends throughout the entire progressive elite in politics and in media. Until we get an honest reckoning from both, the damage will continue to expand. And while Original Sin might eventually force that reckoning, its attempt to leave out the media corruption of the past several years makes it more a part of the problem than the solution.
