For months, Hamas has been releasing the names of "martyrs," including doctors, aid workers, and "journalists"; that fact has been screamed from the rooftops by independent journalists.
More "mainstream" journalists have looked the other way, after spending years peddling the lie that Israel has been targeting journalists for execution in Gaza. Much has been made of the fact, and it is part of the ongoing propaganda campaign against our ally.
Now, finally, the story is getting picked up, and the Beeb is "urgently" reviewing its coverage.

There really wasn't any doubt that at least many of the "journalists" who were supposedly targeted by Israel were really Hamas; after all, we got "news" footage starting Day One from "reporters" who tagged along with the terrorists, and video of one carrying a grenade along with his equipment.
The BBC has reported the deaths of 53 “journalists” in Gaza who have been claimed as terrorists by Hamas and other groups.
Some of them took part in the Oct 7 attacks and several have been hailed as “martyrs” by their terrorist organisations.
The majority of the reports describing them as journalists appeared on BBC Arabic, which The Telegraph exposed last year for widespread anti-Israeli bias.
The broadcaster promised at the time that it would instigate reforms of BBC Arabic to address the issues highlighted by The Telegraph. However, when Matt Brittin, the new director-general, started work in June, Lisa Nandy, the Culture Secretary, told him she still had concerns about it.
The BBC has told The Telegraph that it is now reviewing the inclusion of the militants in its coverage.
Many of the supposed journalists are pictured on social media dressed in military fatigues and holding weapons and, in some cases, wearing headbands associated with terrorist groups.
Reuters' Pulitzer Prize for photojournalism included photographs taken by photographers who accompanied the Hamas terrorists. Everybody knew all along that any "journalist" in Gaza was, at minimum, approved by Hamas, and likely most were Hamas themselves.
Anybody who said these people were "journalists" by any standard we use in the West either had a lobotomy or was too credulous to be in the business. The truth was easy to know, and they chose not to know or care. They used terrorists as "reporters," and now, three years after all of this and a year into a sort of cease-fire, they are "reviewing" their coverage because of concerns.

Oh, please. It makes me ill. We now live in a world where, in most people's minds, it is an established fact that Israel was targeting and murdering objective journalists to hide war crimes, when, in fact, the BBC was participating in what amounts to the same.
It has been acting as Hamas' propaganda arm, and "oops" and a "review" won't cover the damage.
The Committee to Protect Journalists had kept a running tab of "journalists" who were killed, and has been quietly editing the list as Hamas releases the names of "martyrs."
That's modern journalism for you. Memory hole what you don't like, amplify what you do, even if it is false.
Twelve have been removed from a casualty list kept by the independent Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a US-based organisation that defends the rights of journalists in combat zones and elsewhere. The CPJ, whose senior advisers include Dan Rather, a veteran news anchor, decided they were either “not journalists or media workers” or that they had “participated in combat”. Terrorist groups have also published obituaries of some of them.
They include Abdullah Darwish, who was described by BBC Arabic as “a cameraman for Al-Aqsa TV” but who was removed from the CPJ list after it emerged he had participated in the Oct 7 attacks as part of Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades and had been photographed wearing the distinctive green headband of Al-Qassam. He was killed in a targeted air strike in December 2023.
Yaqoub Al-Barsh, described by BBC Arabic as the executive director of Namaa radio, was also removed from the CPJ list after he was identified as a member of Hamas’s Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, which lists him on its “martyrs” page online.
Rizq Abu Shakian, a journalist for Palestine Now, according to the BBC, appeared in an online video wearing Hamas military fatigues and holding an automatic rifle.
The propaganda campaign has worked. Israel has been permanently smeared and now stands accused and convicted of war crimes based on manufactured evidence.
Some of us have been saying this for years, and as with so many issues, we were ignored at best, smeared at worst as AIPAC stooges.
There is no single rule to sort fact from fiction, but there is a tool you can use to help: look for the Narrative™, and look to see whether the "facts" fit too neatly into it.
Sometimes all the evidence points one way because it's true; but at least as often it is massaged to make it look as the producers of The Truman Show want it to.
