Shamelessness Is, You Must Admit, a Huge Political Advantage

Adam Schiff is a Senator today. Dan Goldman had a pretty nice career in New York politics until being a Jew became a liability too difficult to overcome. Bill Clinton gutted it out despite being caught in disreputable circumstances and committing perjury to cover it up. Ralph Northam is a respected "statesman," despite dressing up in blackface or a KKK outfit. Edwin Edwards won a campaign for governor by running on the slogan "Vote for the crook, not the bigot; it's important." Marion Barry went to jail and mounted a comeback. Nancy Pelosi shamelessly engaged in insider trading and retired as one of the most respected politicians in America.

The list of politicians who have survived scandals and thrived, mostly through their willingness to do whatever it takes and be as shameless as humanly possible, is long and disgusting.

Goldman distinguished himself as being one of the Democrats' "Designated Liars"—the people so shameless, like Adam Schiff—who would look into the camera and lie with a sincerity and shamelessness that few could match.

On his way out, he is still making his contribution to the Democratic Party spin machine, lying, no doubt, to help ensure that his colleagues will ensure he has a very comfortable soft landing after being stabbed in the back by the antisemitic mob led by Zohran Mamdani.

Rep. Daniel Goldman, a Democrat representing Lower Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn, was responding to remarks about the immigration system from Reps. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., and Tom McClintock, R-Calif., during a markup of a bill that would enshrine President Donald Trump’s border security orders into law.

"Sanctuary cities, I ask you please cite one case where there was a criminal conviction, the defendant served his time and was convicted of a removable offense under the [Immigration & Nationality Act of 1952] and he was not turned over by the city or the state to the Department of Homeland Security," Goldman addressed his Republican colleagues during the markup.

Goldman's blatant lie that New York cooperates with ICE to deport criminal illegal immigrants is transparent to everybody who willingly publishes it, but they are not the audience. That is liberals who oppose deportations, but don't want to face the consequences of keeping rapists and murderers in the country. So they all agree to pretend that what is happening is not.

That is the secret power that people like Goldman have: they feed the lies to people who want to be lied to, and they know that nobody who matters will call them out. They are the Emperor who has no clothes; only they know they are naked, the media knows they are naked, their followers don't want to believe that they are naked, and the kids who speak the truth are punished.

The scary thing is that it works. It really does. All you need is the right kind of sociopathy, and you can go very far indeed.
