I'm having trouble deciding who my favorite Democrat is.
By that, I don't mean the Democrat I admire the most as a person, but instead as the Platonic Ideal of a Democrat. The one who best represents the degenerate state of the party as it currently exists.
It used to be that I could create a Venn Diagram of Republicans and Democrats and find, in the intersection, a decent number of Democrats I would prefer to spend time with or even trust more than a good number of Republicans. Sure, I may have disagreements on various issues, but I would feel better about them becoming a leader than some people nominally on my "side."
It's much harder now, even though I don't believe that the average character quality of Republican politicians has improved. We've still got plenty of stinkers. It's just that Democrats as a party have veered so far into the dangerous moral swamp that I can't think of more than one or two who aren't on the side of Satan.

Gavin Newsom is not QUITE the Platonic ideal, of course. No physical manifestation of anything on Earth could ever be perfect in that way. But he comes close. While he doesn't have the ideological zeal of the truly deranged socialists and Marxists who are rising up—Newsom is more performatively progressive than a true believer—he certainly is happy to perform any act of human sacrifice in order to gain power.
Newsom flew down to the Brazilian Amazon this week to give a practiced performance regarding his fake concern about climate change. In typical Democratic Party fashion, he blamed his own (and other Democrats') management failures for the Pacific Palisades fire (and his inability to get the recovery going) on climate change, all while doing his patented "Hustle" dance.
The joke about politicians lying when their lips are moving still applies, but with Gavin Newsom, you get additional "tells," such as his dancing around as if he just snorted a few too many lines of cocaine.

Now you might think that making such a joke about a man in recovery—Newsom famously excused his betrayal of his wife and best friend by having an affair with that man's wife on alcoholism —it really isn't. Because Newsom famously said that everybody needs to self-medicate.

Gee, I wonder why California's homeless crisis keeps getting worse despite all those billions of dollars Gavin pours into helping them self-medicate.
What makes Newsom nearly perfect as a potential leader of the Democrats is his impeccable performance skills, married to a sociopathic indifference to the consequences of his actions. He will say whatever it takes to help him get what he wants, and will change on a dime if his audience demands it.
Democrats clearly eat it up. He looks good. Sounds good. And he can do the Hustle.
The damage he leaves in his wake? Republicans clearly did all that.
