USAID Is a Trap For Democrats

The battle over funding for USAID is absolutely glorious for so many reasons.

Not only are Donald Trump and Elon Musk beginning to defund the piggy bank being raided by the transnational elite, the alphabet activists, the global left, and not coincidentally, NGOs, which are causing so much damage to the US and the world, but he is forcing the Democrats to defend the least popular spending item in the federal government.

No issue has galvanized Democrats as much as the temporary closing down of USAID. Democratic Party leaders marched to the USAID offices and made impassioned speeches about how vital it is to US interests.

Here are a few more of the ridiculous projects on which they spent YOUR money:

— $7.9 million to teach Sri Lankan journalists how to avoid “binary-gendered language”

— $20 million for a new Sesame Street show in Iraq

— $4.5+ million to “combat disinformation” in Kazakhstan

— $1.5 million for “art for inclusion of people with disabilities”

— $2 million for sex changes and “LGBT activism” in Guatemala

— $6 million to “transform digital spaces to reflect feminist democratic principles”

— $2.1 million to help the BBC “value the diversity of Libyan society”

— $10 million worth of USAID-funded meals, which went to an al Qaeda-linked terrorist group

— $25 million for Deloitte to promote “green transportation” in the country of Georgia

— $6 million for tourism in Egypt

— $2.5 million to promote “inclusion” in Vietnam

— $16.8 million for a SEPARATE “inclusion” group in Vietnam

— ~$5 million to EcoHealth Alliance, one of the key NGOs funding bat virus research at the Wuhan lab

— $20 million for a group related to a key player in the Russiagate impeachment hoax

— $1.1 million to an Armenian “LGBT group”

— $1.2 million to help the African Methodist Episcopal Church Service and Development Agency in Washington, D.C., build “a state-of-the-art 440 seat auditorium”

— $1.3 million to Arab and Jewish photographers

— $1.5 million to promote “LGBT advocacy” in Jamaica

— $1.5 million to “rebuild” the Cuban media ecosystem

— $2 million to promote “LGBT equality through entrepreneurship” in Latin America

— $500K to solve sectarian violence in Israel (just ten days before the Hamas October 7 attack)

— $2.3 million for “artisanal and small scale gold mining” in the Amazon

— $3.9 million for “LGBT causes” in the western Balkans

— $5.5 million for LGBT activism in Uganda

— $6 million for advancing LGBT issues in “priority countries around the world”

— $6.3 million for men who have sex with men in South Africa

— $8.3 million for “USAID Education: Equity and Inclusion”

— USAID’s “climate strategy” outlined a $150 billion “whole-of-agency” approach to building an “equitable world with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions.”

For decades, USAID bureaucrats believed they were accountable to no one — but that era is over.

President Trump is STOPPING the waste, fraud, and abuse.

For all the ranting about Elon Musk and DOGE, it was the entry of DOGE auditors into the inner sanctum of an obscure agency that purports to feed hungry children but, in reality, showers everybody from Hunter Biden's business partners, news organizations, and transgender opera companies that mobilized them to action.

Democrat leaders called for millions of Americans to flood the streets in support of LGBTQIA propaganda, sending money to ISIS and al Qaeda and funding "independent media" around the world.

Not coincidentally, it funds the censorship complex that has been oppressing people around the world.

They even grandstanded on the House and Senate floor, with Chuck Schumer warning ominously that DOGE might audit the IRS as well.

Cry me a river.

Donald Trump has lured Democrats into a trap, and a few prominent Democrat political operatives have already figured that out, but the insiders whose gravy train don't appear to see it.

After three months of soul-searching about how to revive their party, some Democrats believe they have finally found a rallying point following Donald Trump’s presidential victory.

Billionaire Elon Musk’s campaign to dismantle the federal bureaucracy piece by piece at Trump’s behest, starting with the U.S. Agency for International Development, lit a fire under many Democratic lawmakers — several of whom rallied Monday outside USAID headquarters.

But relaunching the resistance to defend one of the least popular corners of the federal budget could be a monster miscalculation — and some prominent Democrats told me they have serious strategic reservations about how their party is fighting back.

When I asked veteran strategist David Axelrod whether Democrats were “walking into a trap” on defending foreign aid, he literally finished my sentence.

“My heart is with the people out on the street outside USAID, but my head tells me: ‘Man, Trump will be well satisfied to have this fight,’” he said. “When you talk about cuts, the first thing people say is: Cut foreign aid.”

Rahm Emanuel — the former House leader, Chicago mayor and diplomat — told me much the same: “You don’t fight every fight. You don’t swing at every pitch. And my view is — while I care about the USAID as a former ambassador — that’s not the hill I’m going to die on,” he said.

Trump’s orbit, meanwhile, couldn’t be happier seeing Democratic lawmakers lined up on a downtown Washington sidewalk Monday — in their view, wasting political capital defending an agency that they believe the public doesn’t give a rip about. Musk himself spent the following 24 hours posting videos of Democrats protesting the move.

USAID turns out to be the heart of the beast, so Democrats are forced to defend it to the death, but to the average American, it screams "foreign aid" and "woke idiocy," and as the details of the spending come out, the outrage will only grow.

As Democrats keep pouring political capital into a fight they cannot win, they are reminding people of why they threw them out of power.

This fight is a political loser for them. They can't afford not to fight over USAID because it is one of their key funding sources, and they can't afford to fight it because it makes them look more awful every day.

The media keeps trying to justify the funding by repeating that it isn't THAT much money, after all, but I doubt that will fly with anybody but hard-core liberals. And when Trump starts sending rice and beans to starving children again--I suspect he will make such a move, most of the mild opposition will evaporate.

Few things are more glorious than the Democrats going to war for USAID. You and I know that the worst things the agency does are all about funding the transnational elite, but lists like the one the White House put out get across to the average person that foreign aid is all about sex changes for Guatemalans and DEI in Uganda.

On this issue, as with many others, Democrats are cooked.
