Grok/David Strom

The Democrats are back at it.

On his way out the door, prominent Democrats are insisting that Biden is fit as a fiddle, sharp as a tack, reciting Homer while jogging on a treadmill, and discussing Democracy Itself with leading lights of philosophy like George Soros and Hillary Clinton.

It's an odd flex, although in the case of some like Chuck Schumer, it may amount to little more than covering their backsides.

Members of the media have been reluctantly admitting that Biden has lost a step or two--how could they not after the debate performance back in June and all the revelations from Biden backers like George Clooney themselves--but people in Biden's orbit are sticking with their story.

Can anybody think that these Biden defenders are telling the truth as they believe it? It seems unlikely. This begs the question: why do they think they will get away with it?

The answer is clear: because they will get away with it. Who is going to hold them accountable?

Not the media. Not Democratic voters. Not their colleagues, who are more angry that after all the storm and strife, the people around Harris were more interested in pillaging the coffers of the Democratic Party than in winning the election.

Granted, the Democratic Party moneybags have a point and are right to be angry, but they are not as angry about their political puppets lying about Biden's acuity says something really bad about them.

In that same interview, Schumer made clear what was really important to the Democrats and why they stuck by Biden so long despite his inability to be coherent outside the hours of 11 A.M. and 3:00 P.M.: they got to spend a lot of money, and a lot of that money went into the pockets of those very Democrat donors.

Chuck, as with most Democrats, believes that spending money is the measure of success; the more you spend, the better a politician you are. Pass a bill--the bigger, the better--and voila! Achievement.

Stupid people like you are me just don't appreciate that Biden and company spent $44 billion to connect homes to broadband! That the homes weren't connected to broadband is a tiny detail. Money is getting spread around!

This is, perhaps, why Schumer and company think Biden was sharp enough to be president. He could still sign bills, so what's the problem?

By their lights, Washington hasn't worked this well in over 50 years. Massive legislation passed! What more do you want?
