Now It's Virginia That May Be Competitive

The collapse of the Kamala Harris campaign continues at an accelerating rate.

Newspapers are declining to endorse her, Beyonce shows up to an arena only to say a few words and leave, and voters in previously swing states are saying they are ready to turn the page, but not in the way that Kamala Harris hoped they would.

Rallygoers were so angry they literally booed Kamala--at a Kamala Harris rally. And not a few boos. The anger at Kamala Harris was so great that you could barely hear her as she tried to speak over the crowd.

Now we see that Virginia, which hasn't been competitive for 40 years, may go to Donald Trump. If it does, only one word would apply: landslide.

To be clear, I am not PREDICTING Donald Trump will win in a landslide. It is well within the realm of possibility that Trump could lose every swing state or that he could win every one of them.

I am not predicting a Trump victory, but it sure FEELS as if he will win in a landslide. Democrats feel it; Republicans feel it, social media influencers are going insane because they feel it, and the prediction markets are predicting it. Polymarket has Trump leading in the odds by 18 points (that is not a prediction of the popular vote, which the market still predicts a Trump loss, but of his odds of winning the Electoral College.

After all, Trump has to exceed the margin of fraud. In some states, that will be a heavy lift.

The "fascism" attack has been a total dud so far, and that is Harris's closing argument. This time, voters aren't buying what the Democrats are selling, and actual Holocaust survivors are angry that Harris is comparing Trump to Hitler.

OUCH. It's hard to imagine that Kamala Harris' moral authority on the issue of fascism trumps that of an actual victim of Hitler. Few people outside hardcore Democrats worry that Trump is really a fascist. Her saying it doesn't help.

Add in the optics of Harris skipping the Situation Room as Israel strikes Iran in order to have a devastatingly counterproductive rally with Beyonce. The war in the Middle East is heating up, and Kamala Harris is in Texas trying to drum up votes. For a person who is trying to convince people that she American people that she is capable of keeping the world from exploding into violence, this was a bad move.

Even tech companies' CEOs are hedging their bets. While their platforms are still interfering in the election, the CEOs are sucking up to Trump. This is a major shift, driven by practical concerns and a response to Elon Musk's leadership. I suspect a lot of them would actually endorse Trump--not because they like him but because their futures are now determined in Washington--but their employees are rabid.

Kamala's CNN town hall was an unmitigated disaster, with pro-Kamala hosts panning her performance as much as they were able given the audience's ideological tile. That is a horrible sign for her.

And Trump is out there having fun, as his approval ratings skyrocket, He is now at his highest approval rating ever, and Harris has seen her own ratings plummet.

I keep warning you that Harris is not out of the race. And I keep saying that the Harris campaign has ended in failure. She started the campaign on a sugar high and has steadily fallen in popularity and in the polls since she started campaigning. The more people see her, the more they dislike her.

But she has an operation and tons of money, and she has the margin of fraud or shenanigans. She can't pull off a victory, but the Democratic machine might be able to.

I don't have a clue what the Harris campaign could possibly do to change the shape of the race. Attacks on Trump don't work. Campaign appearances are a net negative. Ads seem to be ineffective. And voters are totally unimpressed with her.

All they have left is the ground game, and even there, they have a problem. Formerly reliable voters are now split. Unions, black men, Hispanics, and even some intellectuals have abandoned Harris.

If Virginia really is in play, Harris may lose in an EV landslide.
