Our MSM is filled with stenographers, not reporters.
How else can you explain this ridiculous report from Axios about Joe Biden’s eating habits?
🍝@AlexThomp, crushing it @axios, quotes aides as saying President Biden, like Trump, eats like a child:
• Favorites include PB&J, BLTs, pizza, cookies, spaghetti w/ butter & red sauce, orange Gatorade

Joe Biden just got handed his…posterior in a poll that shows him at the lowest approval of any president at this time in his term and Axios comes out with a story about his diet.
A story, by the way, that clearly HAD to be leaked from the White House, meaning that they wanted to generate a fluffy story that is a distraction from the disastrous news.

First the facts that we are supposed to care about from Axios:
There’s a delicious (surf and) turf battle inside the Biden White House — over the president’s plate.
- The food fight has pitted Joe Biden — who prefers carbs over greens — against First Lady Jill Biden, who has been pushing the commander-in-chief to eat more fish and veggies whether he likes them or not (he doesn’t).
Why it matters: The internal tug-of-war over Joe Biden’s diet is just one of many public and private steps being taken by close aides and the first lady to keep the 80-year-old president healthy as he prepares to run for a second term.
State of play: Some Biden aides have long noted that he eats “like a child,” with a food palette that skews beige.
- His favorite dishes include peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, BLT’s, pizza, cookies, spaghetti with butter and red sauce, and ice cream that he occasionally makes into a full sundae, according to current and former Biden aides.
- On Friday while visiting D.C.’s Taqueria Habanero, Biden ordered churros and a chicken quesadilla.
- A teetotaler, he often drinks orange Gatorade.
It goes on, but you get the point. Joe Biden is cratering in the polls and one of the least respected presidents in our history and we are being told about Gatorade and chicken quesadillas.
It’s human interest! Jill wants him hale and healthy for the campaign!
I get why the White House wants such fluff being discussed, but that isn’t the point. Why is Axios actually shoveling this shite down our throats as the world goes to hell?
Because they are stenographers for the powerful.

Before we rain on Axios’ parade, this is pretty much the same for all MSM outlets. They depend upon the powerful to dispense tidbits to fill the pages and create the pixels that pay the bills. If the media folks annoy the elite they get frozen out. So it is a delicate dance. In general, the media needs the powerful at least as much as the reverse, especially when those they cover are in office. Getting a scoop from the White House is gold.
Unfortunately, Axios is getting scoops of chocolate chips, not anything that matters. And that seems to be the case for everybody in DC these days. The MSM is little more than the mouthpiece or propaganda arm of the Democrat Party. It’s not like during the Trump years anybody cozied up to the Trump Administration.

The scale of the disgust with Biden makes clear just how desperate the White House must be to change the subject. Salmon and ice cream aren’t going to do much to change the trajectory of the discussion, though.
What I will be interested to see is if there is a sudden shift in the tone of the media, which would indicate panic among the Democrats. They should be panicking, given both the current poll numbers and the likely trajectory of the economy. It is not hopeless, as incumbents have enormous power and the Democrats have a powerful political machine.
But it is looking pretty dire. I think the chances that Biden isn’t the nominee are rising. No article on ice cream can change that fact, even if the White House continues to dish them out to the media.
