The Left, as usual, is engaged in a smear campaign.
After spending years promoting the idea that actual censorship of true information about COVID, Hunter Biden’s laptop, and innumerable other issues is necessary for the good of society, they have reversed course on censorship and are now demanding that actual pornography be freely distributed in children’s libraries and be used in curricula in the public schools.
Instructions on how to use Grindr–a gay dating app–are distributed to children as young as 10 in public schools, and they are viciously attacking Republicans as book banners. It’s insane. Even Nikki Fried, the Florida Democrat Party Chair attacks Governor Ron DeSantis for showing “butt plug porn”–photos from a book that Fried wants available to children–while criticizing him for wanting the book out of the schools.
She called it porn. And she wants it pushed to 10-year-olds.
Let’s consider the Left’s view of conservative speech and how they reacted in a recent case.
Abigail Shrier wrote a book about the harm being perpetrated on children called “Irreversible Damage.”
The book was sent out by the American Bookseller’s Association as part of a normal “here are new books available” free book distribution to booksellers.
In a statement Wednesday, the American Booksellers Association (ABA) apologized for promoting Abigail Shrier’s “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze Seducing Our Daughters,” calling its oversight in releasing it a “serious, violent incident.”
ABA sent Shrier’s title along with others to 750 bookstores in its July “white box” mailing, Publishers Weekly reported.
“An anti-trans book was included in our July mailing to members. This is a serious, violent incident that goes against ABA’s ends policies, values, and everything we believe and support. It is inexcusable,” the statement read.
“We apologize to our trans members and to the trans community for this terrible incident and the pain we caused them. We also apologize to the LGBTQIA+ community at large, and to our bookselling community,” it added.
They apologized for committing actual violence by sending out a free copy of a book.
No butt plug porn. No grooming of pre-pubescent boys to log onto Grindr to (possibly) have sex with adult men. Nothing so benign.
Shrier argued that sterilizing and mutilating kids was wrong.
This is “violence.” Actual bookstore owners complained about getting a free copy of a book that argued what most Americans believe, wanting the book left unavailable for purchase, and condemned the distribution of the book at all as “violence.”
Booksellers as book banners. That is the reality.
The ABA Board of Directors, also booksellers, emailed members, “These incidents harmed booksellers, ABA board members, and ABA staff who identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or BIPOC, as well as the wider community. They also added to a toxic culture overall.”
“We are not the ABA of two years ago. These actions are antithetical to the values we are working to promote in our organization under the strong leadership of our CEO, Allison Hill, and COO, Joy Dallanegra-Sanger. This is not acceptable behavior and goes against the bylaws changes instituted last year,” they continued.
ABA CEO Allison Hill released an supplementary statement to booksellers apologizing both for the promotion of Shrier’s book and a ‘racist’ episode last week in which the organization featured the wrong cover image for “Blackout” by Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Jackson, Nic Stone, Angie Thomas, Ashley Woodfolk, and Nicola Yoon on its Indie Next bestseller list.
Shrier’s book is not carried by many library systems which simultaneously distribute books like “This Book is Gay,” which instructs children how to use gay dating apps, and engage in…unusual…sex acts.
Who is actually “banning” books?
They don’t carry it there either! https://t.co/c6hnKSZ63Z pic.twitter.com/63OkWDqRB9

Failing to put a book in a middle school library is not “banning” a book. If it were, 99.9999% of books would be considered banned. Libraries are curated because the number of books carried can’t come close to including every book published. The only library that even tries to do so is the Library of Congress. It is physically impossible. Literally impossible.
So the books that are chosen are done so for a reason, and the reasons are ideological. They must be, whether those reasons are liberal, conservative, libertarian, or entirely non-political. A judgment is being made about appropriateness for the audience and, of course, demand.
You would expect considerations about appropriateness to dominate in school libraries. It would be shocking to find “Protocols of the Elders of Zion” given to 15-year-olds, and I assume everybody complaining about choices to not distribute “This Book is Gay” would freak out if it were.
I hope so.
We are having a fight, not over the 1st Amendment, book banning (you can readily get all the books they are complaining about), or anything they are claiming; we are fighting about their desire to ideologically groom children into Leftist warriors against capitalism.
Never underestimate how fundamentally dishonest and often self-consciously evil these people are. They want your children and want to destroy America.
This has been the Left’s goal since the French Revolution when the modern Left was born. It led to a reign of terror then, and they want another today.
