What do you do if you're an established movie director who hasn't had a project greenlit in more than a decade?
If you're Lilly Wachowski, the co-director of three "Matrix" films, you burn every bridge in sight. And then a few more.
Wachowski, who transitioned to a woman following the success of the 1999 "Matrix" original, is on a publicity tour trying to guilt Hollywood into making the director's stories come to life.
It helps to revisit Wachowski's recent track record. Call it, "Duck and Cover!"
The second and third "Matrix" films were successful but aren't considered anywhere near as good as the iconic original. The filmmaker later co-directed "Jupiter Ascending," "Speed Racer" and "Cloud Atlas" with trans sibling Lana Wachowski.
All duds.
So where does that leave Lilly Wachowski? The artist wants to tell more trans and queer stories, which on paper aren't box office gold for general audiences. Shockingly, no studio is lining up to fund these projets.
One particular pitch was "lesbians in space." Did Wachowski not see the crash-and-burn disaster that was "The Acolyte" on Disney+?
Another possible film? An actioner that doubles as an attack on transphobic people. Look out, "Spider-Man: Brand New Day!"
The director is also making new enemies by attacking others. Take this assault on J.K. Rowling, the liberal darling behind the "Harry Potter" book series. Rowling doesn't ascribe to every tenet of the trans guidebook, and for that she's been targeted by the Left.
Wachowski pushed that sentiment to 11, in the grand "Spinal Tap" tradition.
She is funding trans genocide. J.K. Rowling funds trans genocide, full stop. So, if you support “Harry Potter,” you’re supporting trans genocide. The money that goes into you enjoying these products, a portion of that money goes to J.K. Rowling and that money goes into her funding anti-trans legislation all over the world.
Yes, "genocide" officially has no meaning today thanks to its overuse on the Left. Just ask Bill Maher.

The director also slammed Elon Musk (a Nazi) and the proposed Paramount takeover of Warner Bros. Discovery.
They want CNN because they want to make it into Fox News.
Of course, Wachowski isn't alone here. Many "name" directors are struggling in the modern era. Think John Waters, John Sayles and Francis Ford Coppola.
Sayles has been trying, and trying, to get back behind the camera with little luck. And he's found out firsthand that Hollywood can be cruel.
An awful lot of good directors I know haven’t directed in 5, 10, 15 years.
Coppola of "The Godfather" fame is a legend in Hollywood, yet he had to fund his recent "Megalopolis" movie with his own cash to make it happen. And he lost his shirt, or at least his grapes, in the process.
In Hollywood, the mantra remains a simple one. What have you done for me lately?
To Wachowski's credit, the filmmaker has started a new studio to make trans-themed films. Will it work? We'll have to wait and see. For now, the director's eagerness to whine about the status quo and alienate power players in the industry seems like the worst backup plan possible.
