When Will the Real Dr. Fauci Get His Closeup?

Dr. Anthony Fauci's Hollywood career is all but over.

The not-so-good Doctor had a heckuva run, popping up on "The Late Show" with Stephen Colbert, getting lionized by "Saturday Night Live" and even getting a fawning documentary all his own.

And yeah, that 2021 movie tanked at the box office.

What about the other Dr. Fauci? The one the Legacy Media hid for far too long? The one who promised to punish the signees of the Great Barrington Declaration, a proposal that would have spared millions from the punitive, ineffective lockdowns?

The one who said He is The Science, and yet allowed BLM protests to go on during the pandemic while schools shuttered.

That one.

Chances are, Hollywood will never tell his story. The industry bought into the media's portrait of Dr. Fauci, the kind and noble public servant who tried to save us from the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was as real as a Hulk Hogan title match. And some people, like Adam Carolla, knew it faster than others.

The latest Dr. Fauci news may be among the worst of all, and in a fair world it might be the climactic scene of a film detailing his abuses of power.

Retiring Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard shared "communications and documents" showing how Dr. Fauci allegedly covered up his actions.

Dr. Fauci "provided millions in US taxpayer dollars to fund dangerous gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV)—work which is now widely viewed as the source of the unintentional lab leak that sparked the pandemic."

The report also says Dr. Fauci lied to Congress two years ago when he "denied knowledge of or participation in discussions with intelligence officials about viral research."

Serious charges, no doubt. And charges the Legacy Media will dutifully ignore. After all, President Donald Trump's upgrade to the Reflecting Pool has had some hiccups, and reporters are aggressively covering a story with sizable, real-world implications.

Enter Hollywood.

Dr. Fauci's life and career would make one compelling film, especially if the screenplay reflected his actual career arc and serial misdirections.

The new mini-documentary "The Lockdown Dissidents" alone offers plenty of fodder for a brutal expose. Part of that story would show how the media covered up his actions, misled the public about his intentions and, finally, revealed the truth for all to see.

Lights! Camera! Takedown!

Lesser known documentaries, like Angel Studios' "Thank You Dr. Fauci," offer more troubling allegations against the subject.

It's all wishful thinking, of course. Any such project would face serious headwinds for the studio in question. Some actors might refuse to take part in the project for fear of professional retribution. And right-leaning millionaires would be reticent to fund a project where the ROI is in doubt.

Progressive elites routinely write checks to fund movies that support their world view. Conservative billiionaires? Not so much.

Throw "Fauci: The Untold Story" on the pile of great movie ideas that will never get made.
