Green Dregs and Scam Day Continues: Trump and the UN Carbon Tax

Welcome to Post Number Two in today's salute to President Trump's wholehearted exposure and dismantling of what he called the 'Green New Scam.'

Next up, Trump goes after Carbon Taxes.

There's a meeting in England today that has the potential to affect the entire world, because it will directly impact shipping.

The international organization that oversees international shipping standards and regulations (to simplify it enormously), the International Maritime Organization (IMO), is a United Nations-based regulatory body headquartered in London.

The first thing that should have you squinting is 'UN' and the second is 'oversees international standards and regulations.' There's more than enough room there for mischief of the first order.

Which is exactly what this body intends to do.

Voters are showing their opposition to the net-zero climate agenda whenever they get the chance. But that isn’t stopping the United Nations, which this week is poised to impose what amounts to a global tax on carbon emissions. Yes, this is the definition of taxation without representation.

The International Maritime Organization (IMO), a U.N. body based in London, hopes at its meeting this week to secure final approval for its “net-zero framework” for shipping. The measure would impose charges per metric ton of carbon-dioxide that ships emit above certain limits; the tax would be $100 or $380 per metric ton depending on various factors. That could translate to an annual tax take of $10 billion-$12 billion.

My friend, Captain John Konrad, a salty US Merchant Marine captain and CEO of the excellent maritime publication gCaptain, has been railing about the dangers of this proposal for literally years. As the Biden administration - and, conceivably, the incoming Harris administration - was completely on board, no one asked for the opinion of a man with his extensive shipping and maritime knowledge, either in support of or in opposition to.

There are so many arguments against, with the first being, 'Who is the UN to levy taxes on Americans?' The downsides to the carbon money scheme take off from there.

Donald Trump Jr was outspoken in opposition, and, as the meeting date ticked closer, Trump cabinet officials began to speak out in united opposition.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright issued a strong statement.

And then our Secretary of State laid an unequivocal hammer down.

...We call on other nations to stand alongside the United States in defense of our citizens and sovereignty@IMOHQ

...from Secretary of State Rubio, Secretary of Energy Wright, and Secretary of Transportation Duffy, with the threat of retaliatory US actions should the measure pass, as it was expected to do.

Taking Action to Defend America from the UN’s First Global Carbon Tax – the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) “Net-Zero Framework” (NZF)

President Trump has made it clear that the United States will not accept any international environmental agreement that unduly or unfairly burdens the United States or harms the interests of the American people.  Next week, members of the IMO will vote on the adoption of a so-called NZF aimed at reducing global carbon dioxide gas emissions from the international shipping sector.  This will be the first time that a UN organization levies a global carbon tax on the world.

The Administration unequivocally rejects this proposal before the IMO and will not tolerate any action that increases costs for our citizens, energy providers, shipping companies and their customers, or tourists.  The economic impacts from this measure could be disastrous, with some estimates forecasting global shipping costs increasing as much as 10% or more.  We ask you to join us in rejecting adoption of the NZF at the October meeting and to work together on our collective economic and energy security.

The NZF proposal poses significant risks to the global economy and subjects not just Americans, but all IMO member states to an unsanctioned global tax regime that levies punitive and regressive financial penalties, which could be avoided.  The United States is considering the following actions against nations that support this global carbon tax on American consumers:

  • Pursuing investigations and considering potential regulations to combat anti-competitive practices from certain flagged countries and potential blocking vessels registered in those countries from U.S. ports;
  • Imposing visa restrictions including an increase in fees and processing, mandatory re-interview requirements and/or revisions of quotas for C-1/D maritime crew member visas;
  • Imposing commercial penalties stemming from U.S. government contracts including new commercial ships, liquified natural gas terminals and infrastructure, and/or other financial penalties on ships flagged under nations in favor of the NZF;
  • Imposing additional port fees on ships owned, operated, or flagged by countries supporting the framework; and
  • Evaluating sanctions on officials sponsoring activist-driven climate policies that would burden American consumers, among other measures under consideration.

Now, we get to the issue of the UN levying a tax on United States assets - they can't do that, right? Why should we even care, right?

This is all true, only the 'but' in this instance is huge.

If this passed, all United States-flagged shipping vessel owners could indeed tell the IMO to piss up a rope - they have no power over US citizens or property.

The problem, as Capt Konrad points out, is that there are basically NO United States-flagged shipping vessels in the world. With the tens of thousands of cargo ships and bulk containers, etc., on the oceans at any given time, the US only has flags on about eighty of them.

That's it.

It seems like it's the perfect squeeze play.

And the UN/world feel they've got us.

UN Ambassador Mike Waltz lays out exactly how this entire nefarious Ponzi scheme works and reiterates the US warnings to those nations going down that road.

But where POTATUS and his crew of autopen thieves would have already signed our national sovereignty and economy away, the Trump team is in the room doing everything they can to gum up the UN's Green New Scam greenhouse emissions, carbon tax works.

The US made a proposal at talks held by the global shipping regulator to introduce another step in adopting a charge on vessel emissions if countries vote for it this week, as Washington continues to oppose the planned new rules.

Nations are at an International Maritime Organization meeting in London to decide on landmark regulations to make vessels start paying for their greenhouse gas emissions. The Trump administration is strongly against the move, which it has labeled a “global carbon tax” on Americans, and has said it would consider wide-ranging measures against those who backed them.

On Wednesday, the US proposed changing acceptance rules, according to a document provided by the IMO at the meeting.

Usually, under shipping’s main treaty on pollution, new regulations are considered accepted unless a third of countries — or half the world’s merchant fleet — declare they object, a process known as “tacit acceptance.” But the US has now proposed that the IMO require “explicit acceptance” — effectively needing nations to officially opt in after the vote, according to a document.

Word from Konrad just now is that the IMO has postponed the vote.

WOWSAHS

If I had an entire, united Trump cabinet coming after me, I'd think twice...maybe three times...and hide while doing it, too.

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

These guys are frickin' awesome.

The Democrat Party and its addiction to the Green New Scam have never been less popular as voters reject its insane progressive, radical agenda.

Ed, David, John, and I work hard to continue exposing Democrats' plans to lead America down a dangerous path.
