Protect the Public’s Trust (PPT), a government watchdog, has filed a complaint with the Department of Justice. The complaint is over a photo the White House posted on its Instagram account on October 18.
The photo was taken in Israel. It showed Biden meeting with members of Delta Force, the U.S. Army’s elite counterterrorism group. The photo was posted without obscuring the faces and tattoos of the group. Not only did this put the lives of Delta Force in danger, it was a possible violation of the Espionage Act.
The White House took the photo down, after several hours. It was pointed out to them that this block-headed move could get these people killed. There are plenty of nefarious actors out there who would love the bragging rights to killing a member of Delta Force.
Granted, this was likely a mistake by some low-level staffer or intern who wasn’t properly trained on what and what not to post on social media. But, due to some questionable hires by this administration, we can’t take anything for granted. I’m not comfortable giving this administration the benefit of the doubt on anything.
Delta Force is rarely discussed by the Department of Defense because of the nature of its missions. They work undercover and secrecy is a requirement. By the time the photo was removed it had more than 6,100 likes and had been viewed by many thousands. PPT wants an investigation into the incident. This can’t happen again.
The incident should be thoroughly investigated, given the dissent of some Biden administration personnel from the U.S.’s staunch support for Israel. Last week, a Department of Homeland Security employee was placed on leave after it was discovered she previously served as a spokeswoman for the Palestinian Liberation Organization and made numerous social media posts containing antisemitic and anti-Israel rhetoric—including posts that appear to celebrate and glorify the rape, abuse, and murder of more than 1,400 Israelis and dozens of American citizens. Also last week, a State Department official resigned his position with the agency to protest America’s Israel policy, and there are reports of a “mutiny brewing” inside the department. Moreover, the Administration’s special envoy to the Islamic Republic of Iran—itself a chief sponsor of Hamas—has been on “leave” for months “for allegedly mishandling classified materials.”
Biden’s trip to Israel wasn’t necessary. It was to bolster his poll numbers because American voters do not look at his presidency favorability. He’s running for re-election. Look how many months it took him to visit Ukraine and Zelensky. He was the last major world leader to do so. Suddenly, just days after October 7, Biden’s team hastily put together a trip to Israel for him. The photo with Delta Force was probably to be included in campaigns ads to show Biden’s support for the military. At least he wasn’t looking at his watch.
PPT Director Michael Chamberlain released a statement.
“Whoever posted the unredacted photo at best compromised mission effectiveness and, at worst, endangered the lives of some of our finest warriors,” said PPT Director Michael Chamberlain. “Given the opposition to supporting Israel from members of our own government, the Justice Department must investigate whether the incident is a violation of the Espionage Act. We owe that to the Delta operators who put their lives on the line protecting this country.”
This White House is inept, incompetent, and putting American lives in danger. Now there is a question if this was a deliberate ‘mistake’ that was espionage. America deserves and must receive better than this administration. It’s time for a big change in the White House.
