We all remember the story of Fang Fang, the Chinese spy who allegedly approached Rep. Eric Swalwell when he was still a city council member in Dublin, CA. She allegedly helped with fundraising for his 2014 run for congress. In 2015, Swalwell got a tip from the FBI that Fang Fang was a spy and then cut off contact with her. Swalwell has repeatedly denied having any relationship with her beyond meeting her in a professional capacity.
Today there is another story apparently coming together behind the scenes involving Swalwell and alleged sexual harassment involving multiple women. What takes this past the rumors stage is that the person highlighting these claims is a progressive attorney named Cheyenne Hunt who runs a site called Gen Z for Change. She is on Swalwell's side of the aisle but says she found out about this issue because a personal friend came forward about it. She posted a video about it on Tik Tok which has since been re-posted on X.
The key allegation here, and again this hasn't been verified by any major news outlet yet, is that Swalwell has a habit of sleeping with his staffers and interns and then relying on an NDA to keep it quiet.

Multiple women dropping receipts: this dude’s been sleeping with interns & young staffers, slapping NDAs on them to shut it down, and sliding into DMs like it’s his full-time job.

Last night, Cheyenne Hunt posted a thread on X going into more detail. Hunt says she is working with a group of women who are currently speaking with reporters about their experiences.
I have been working with a number of women who are in the process of coming forward and sharing their stories of sexual harassment and even alleged abuse at the hands of Eric Swalwell. Here’s why we’re talking about it before mainstream media: 🧵

Targeting employees, interns, and fans. Acting as a mentor just to exploit that power. DMs and Snapchat messages. Allegations ranging from uncomfortable comments to potentially criminal conduct
— Cheyenne Hunt (@CheyenneHuntCA) April 6, 2026
After one person spoke up, others came forward.
We have secured pro bono legal representation for them and they are in the process of sharing information with reporters and ensuring that they are physically and legally safe. That process takes time.
— Cheyenne Hunt (@CheyenneHuntCA) April 6, 2026
It sounds like there are multiple outlets working on this now.
I understand that people want as much information as possible regarding these women, their stories, and their identities. The problem is, most of these women stayed silent because they believe that they are alone in their experience & that coming forward could ruin their careers
— Cheyenne Hunt (@CheyenneHuntCA) April 6, 2026
Swalwell is currently running for governor of California and is considered a leading candidate so all this could be very good news for other Democrats in the race (as well as 2 Republicans).
I spoke about this before the story broke to encourage other women to come forward and to help ensure this story breaks as soon as possible because I am not blind to the fact that this will obviously have implications in the CA governor’s race.
— Cheyenne Hunt (@CheyenneHuntCA) April 6, 2026
So far, Hunt says she hasn't received any threatening legal letters from Swalwell. The truth is an absolute defense.
That being said, Swalwell follows me. I know that his team is aware of my video and the other creators talking about this. Yet, I have not been served with legal paperwork and I have not received a cease and desist. The truth is an absolute defense and they know that
— Cheyenne Hunt (@CheyenneHuntCA) April 6, 2026
She's doing this even though Swalwell is on her side of the aisle because she believes it's the right thing to do.
So if you or anyone you know has a story you would like to share or you want to know what resources we have available for you, please reach out.
— Cheyenne Hunt (@CheyenneHuntCA) April 6, 2026
Finally, there is one more Tik Tok video by Hunt explaining why she chose to talk about this prior to any major story coming out. She says there is an even larger group of women who are coming forward separate from the group she is in direct contact with. So it sounds like it's really just a matter of time before some news outlet or other nails down all the details.
🚨ANOTHER DAMNING Swalwell DROP!
— Sherri Unfiltered™ (@FFT1776) April 5, 2026
The women are TALKING!
🔥Eric Swalwell, you pathetic predator!
More brave women are dropping the hammer on your ABUSE OF POWER!
Cheyenne L. Hunt came forward with the full timeline, and it’s damning (video below)

And that it for now. Hunt claims that the number of women coming forward has accelerated the process of vetting this story. If that's accurate then maybe we'll see a story from the NY Times or the LA Times in the next day or two.
As for the governor's race in California, I've written before about the unusual circumstance where two Republicans are currently leading that race, in part because there are so many Democrats splitting the vote. California has a "top two advance regardless of partly" primary so, in theory, it's possible for Democrats to get shut out of the actual election.
In reality, taking out a leading candidate like Swalwell might actually help Democrats reshuffle the race and settle on a candidate like Katie Porter who could potentially outpoll one or both of the Republicans. Still, Hunt is right that a lot of Democrats may not be happy having Swalwell knocked out of the race.
