Reports are still coming in about what happened today in York County, PA. What we know for certain is that multiple police officers were shot. The latest reports put the number at five.
Five police officers were shot in York County, Pennsylvania, on Wednesday afternoon, three people familiar with the matter told NBC News.
Police were apparently serving a warrant when they were fired upon, the sources said. Three officers from the Northern York Regional Police Department are in grave condition, and another officer from the department is in critical condition, according to the sources.
One deputy from the York County Sheriff's Office is injured, they added.
The alleged suspect is believed to be dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to the sources.
Gov. Josh Shapiro said he was on his way to the scene.
I’ve been briefed on the situation involving law enforcement in York County, and am on my way there now. We ask those in the area to please follow the directions of local law enforcement and @PAStatePolice.

AG Pam Bondi also issued a statement saying the FBI and ATF were on the scene.
The @FBI and @ATFHQ are on the scene supporting local law enforcement following the shooting of multiple police officers in York County, Pennsylvania.

Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved.
And for some reason the Mexican consulate in Philadelphia issued a statement about this incident.
The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia said in a social media post that they were “monitoring the incident” in Pennsylvania and advised Mexican residents nearby to follow official instructions. A spokesperson for the Mexican consulate in Philadelphia said the post was "only a precautionary alert for our community.
So far as anyone can tell there's no issue that involves Mexico here. So the precautionary statement seems odd.
At least two police officers were airlifted to a nearby hospital. Fellow officers appear to be gathering there.

The Hospital is on lockdown. No visitors permitted.
It doesn’t look good from the outside.
News conference update soon. pic.twitter.com/6gCEPnaTQU
There's a press conference taking place now. They just confirmed that three of the officers shot today are deceased. Here's video of the press conference. In response to questions, the police said that the officers went to the house today as a follow up on some type of "domestic related" situation.
Finally, one local news channel interviewed a neighbor who was coming home and said he heard the shots, about 30 of them, being fired. He said he saw police searching a barn and then the shots were fired and he saw one officer down.
Also, he added that he has known the family that lives in this house for a long time. It's a woman and her children. The father is deceased. Not sure what to make of that. In my mind it was likely the male owner of the house that was behind this.
There's obviously more to this story but it looks like we may not hear much more from authorities today. That said, if anything new breaks I'll try to update below.
