Looting in Los Angeles

Democrats want you to believe they have a righteous cause, that the protests in LA are all about standing up for a good and noble end. They also want you to believe there is no real lawlessness taking place. On the contrary, they claim calling out the Marines and the National Guard are excessive and unnecessary.

Nothing undermines all of these claims quite like the looting of LA businesses. Looting simultaneously shows that a lot of people on the street don't care about a cause and that additional law enforcement is badly needed. Clearly, for some people, LA has become a free-for-all.

It's a party atmosphere.

They smashed their way into the Adidas store too.

A CVS got looted, including the pharmacy.

And a T-mobile shop.

A sushi shop? Not sure what the thinking was here.

People in the crowd are telling them to get out because they are making the protesters look bad. That's true.

A jewelry store being looted.

And I think this is a different jewelry store but it's hard to tell.

The looters hit the Apple store.

They also targeted a marijuana dispensary. This is the only instance I've seen where police showed up as the looting was happening and tried to stop it.

This guy states the obvious. A lot of these people don't care about ICE or deporting migrants, they are out to steal stuff.

Local news outlets are reporting on the chaos.

KTLA’s Carlos Herrera was outside the Apple Tower Theatre on West 8th Street and Broadway Tuesday morning as cleanup was underway following the overnight break-in and looting of the Apple store.

“No ICE” was spray-painted on the damaged glass windows in front of the store. Inside, broken glass was seen on the ground next to several items. Looters reportedly stole multiple iPhones, Apple Watches, laptops and chargers...

Multiple jewelry stores were also hit overnight. A large mob was seen outside businesses on 6th Street and Broadway. Display boxes were left on the sidewalk, although it remains unclear exactly what was taken from the stores.

One shop owner said he witnessed at least four attempted lootings in Los Angeles’ Jewelry District.

Even Mayor Bass seems embarrassed. Here she is yesterday asking people to behave.

And here she is this morning admitting people did not.

There's also breaking news today that a body was found near the scene of the looting last night

A man’s body was found on a sidewalk in downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday at the site of recent protests and lootings, police said.

Police received a call around 1:30 a.m. to West 3rd Street and Broadway, where the unresponsive man, who has yet to be identified, was found, the LAPD said.

The investigation area covers a T-Mobile store at the intersection of the street that was looted during the violent anti-ICE protests that erupted across the city...

The man’s death remains under investigation, and it is unknown whether it might be related to the protests.

We'll have to wait a bit longer to see if this was just a coincidence or if the protests now have a body count.

Finally, the Free Press has a report on the protests Sunday. The author says he saw a mix of people. Some wanted a peaceful protest and others wanted to injure police officers.

About three hours into the third day of the immigration protests in downtown Los Angeles, a dozen or so protesters started breaking up large rocks lining the gap between the street and an off-ramp and hurling them onto the 101 Freeway below. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) had closed the southbound side after protesters had tried to seize it. Police cars and SUVs were parked there, and they were getting pummeled by the rocks. As one officer drove away, a rock smashed the police car’s windshield...

When one of the rock-throwing protesters saw me taking pictures, he ordered me to delete the ones that showed anyone who was unmasked. “We’ll fuck you up,” he threatened. I deleted them; he gave me a fist bump...

Though the rock-throwing protesters were masked, they did not have the telltale signs of being antifa types. They weren’t clad in black with anarchist patches safety-pinned to their hoodies. They carried no flags or shields. They were not predominantly white.

They also weren’t incrementally ratcheting up their activity. They had escalated straight into serious violence.

Here's the scene he's talking about.

All in all, not a great look for LA or the protesters.
