Another Biden Record: 37% of 2023 Spent on Vacation

As President, Joe Biden has been setting one record after another, although none of them are the sort of accomplishments people would typically brag about. He has shattered records for illegal immigration into our country, drug overdose deaths, and homelessness. But now he has another ribbon to add to his collection. Most of you are probably aware that Uncle Joe spends a lot of time on vacation, but precisely how much is “a lot” in this case? The NY Post has finished running the numbers and determined that in 2023, Joe spent a stunning 138 days on vacation, accounting for 37 percent of the year. You might try to make the argument that at least he’s not doing as much damage while he’s out of the office, but that’s still a simply ridiculous amount of time away from the job.

President Biden spent more than a third of the past year at a getaway spot — either one of his Delaware residences, a posh vacation site or Camp David, according to a Post review of public records.

The 81-year-old commander in chief was away at one of the relaxing locations or famous retreat 138 days in 2023 — or 37% of the time.

Delaware was a favorite spot for the president, who spent 90 days, including frequent weekends and one prolonged vacation, at either his personal residence in the tony Wilmington suburb of Greenville or his sun-and-sand hideaway in Rehoboth.

Joe spreads his vacation time around at multiple locations. The majority of his vacation days (90) were spent on the beach at one of his two Delaware mansions. But he also took a couple of trips to Camp David as well as working in some time at posh resorts such as St. Croix, Lake Tahoe, and Nantucket. And even when he did manage to make it back to Washington, he became famous for calling a lid by lunchtime, going as early as 9 o’clock in the morning on some days.

Keep in mind that if you get two or three weeks of vacation per year, Biden took 19 weeks and two days. The phrase “nice work if you can get it” comes to mind, eh? Who else has a job that offers anywhere near that amount of paid vacation? Forbes determined that last year the average American worker received ten days of paid vacation. Those who had been with the same employer for more than ten years received 17 days. That’s not too shabby for most of us who have to work for a living, but it’s still only three weeks after you’ve built up some seniority. That includes people whose responsibilities include things like making lunch sandwiches, janitorial work, or writing articles for a news outlet like this one. Joe Biden took more than six times as many vacation days and he’s supposed to be responsible for the security of the free world.

Some may try to make the argument that “the White House travels with the President” so he’s not really always on vacation. After all, George W. Bush spent a fair amount of time at “the Western White House” in Texas. (Though not nearly this much.) But if these were “working vacations” for Biden, where is the proof to back that up? He certainly seems to spend a lot of time on his bike or wrestling with and being defeated by his beach chair. If he were working, he’d probably be having meetings with people, wouldn’t you think? Perhaps, but we have no way of knowing because Biden ordered all of the visitor logs sealed via the Secret Service and blocked from access through the FOIA process. Even if he is holding meetings, we have no idea whatsoever how often they happen or who they are with.

What’s probably the most amazing thing about all of this, at least to me, is the question of how somebody who puts in so little time on the job manages to screw up the country so badly. Granted, he caused a lot of the damage on his first day with that flurry of destructive executive orders, and a lot of the resultant crises just rolled forward from there with their own momentum. But still… it just feels as if someone would really have to put in a dedicated effort to consistently deliver such awful results for the country. Yet Joe Biden has made it look easy, accomplishing almost all of it from the comfort of his beachside mansions. It’s simply stunning to behold.
