Sexual Assault Arrest Leads to ICE Raid at Madison (MS) Restaurant

A sexual assault arrest led to the discovery of multiple people accused of being in the country illegally.

Officers were called to Fernando's Restaurant on Colony Crossing Way just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police arrested Jose Rigoberta Meija-Cubias, 37, of El Salvador. He is charged with sexual battery of a physically helpless person and tampering with evidence.

Police acquired a warrant to search the restaurant. During the search, investigators said they found multiple people who were in the country illegally who were working at the restaurant.
