Open thread: Sunday morning talking heads

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner may have laughed off of Capitol Hill with Barack Obama’s opening fiscal-cliff bid, but the White House will send Geithner to all five Sunday talk shows today to press their bait-and-switch offer.  The last time Obama sent a senior administration official onto all five shows, Susan Rice told a fairy tale about a YouTube video and a spontaneous demonstration outside our consulate in Benghazi.  Wonder what fairy tales Geithner will spin?  You can tune into any of these shows to find out.

Looks like a lot of cliff-diving talk today on all five shows, but if you want some Benghazi talk, CBS’ Face the Nation is your best bet.  Bob Schieffer will spend half the show talking with the major players on Capitol Hill involved in probing the attack.  The best matchup on the roundtables is probably on NBC’s Meet the Press, where Nancy Pelosi lieutenant Rep. Chris Van Hollen squares off against Grover Norquist, with Jim Cramer and Maria Bartiromo on hand.

  • ABC’s This Week: Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner; roundtable with Reps. Tom Cole (R-OK) and Keith Ellison (D-MN), former Romney adviser Dan Senor, former auto czar Steve Rattner, Cokie Roberts.

  • CNN’s State of the Union: Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, Senators Mark Warner (D-VA) and Kelly Ayotte (R- NH); roundtable with former Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard, Carly Fiorina, Governor Brian Schweitzer (D-Montana), USA Today’s Susan Page, and A.B. Stoddard of The Hill.
  • Fox News Sunday: Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner, John Boehner
