Fiorina hits Boxer as “failed Senator” in new ad

Hot Air got an advance look at the new Carly Fiorina TV ad for California’s Senate race, and it aims directly at the results of Barbara Boxer’s 18-year tenure. It launches a new campaign website, FailedSenator.com,which will apparently be a repository of tough ads about the state of California and the nation and Boxer’s role in delivering it.  Turning California’s Central Valley into a desert, and people living in tents rather than housing — that’s the Boxer legacy, according to Fiorina:

The NRSC partnered up with Fiorina on the ad, which is interesting in itself.  These days, candidates don’t issue many attack ads under their own imprimatur, preferring to leave those tasks to the party orgs instead.  In California, though, the issue is Boxer herself, and Fiorina doesn’t have the luxury of simply issuing gauzy ads about herself and leaving it at that.  Fiorina has to make the election a referendum on Boxer’s extreme agenda and lack of accomplishment in order to win.

Update: Doug Sovern says on Twitter that the next Survey USA survey shows Fiorina back in the margin of error, 43/46, after a bump associated with heavy Boxer spending has dissipated.  We’ll be looking for that poll result.
