Swalwell Out; Democrats Admit Everybody Knew for Years

Eric Swalwell has suspended his campaign for Governor of California after everybody he thought was his friend decided to stab him in the back.

One can imagine him saying to Ruben Gallego, who may have participated in orgies with Swalwell back when he chaired Swalwell's campaign, 'Et tu, Brute?' No love among thieves and all that.

Swalwell had every reason to believe that his behavior with women would never be a political problem, because it never had been a political problem until the Democrats decided to sacrifice him to the gods of scandal. After all, everybody knew, and they are now willing to say so because they needed evidence strong enough to force him out.

In the past few days, reporters, Swalwell "supporters," former staff, and other politicians have all come forward with stories or even videos of Swalwell being a pervert, which begs the question: Why didn't you say something before? If this behavior is now suddenly unacceptable, why wasn't it five minutes ago?

You could have asked that of all the people who came out of the woodwork when Biden mentally collapsed, drooling on stage. George Clooney, for instance, wrote that famous piece in The New York Times describing Biden's vacuity at a fundraiser he held. Not long before, the same George Clooney was assuring us that Biden was A-OK and enthusiastically backed him for president.

The fact of Swalwell's depravity or of Biden's senility was irrelevant to Democrats until they turned out to be politically useful. For all the moral posturing about "believing all women" or wanting the sharpest tool in the shed to run the country, what really matters to Democrats is power.

If one needs to ritually sacrifice women, so be it. How many of these women were paid off to keep their mouths shut? How many were encouraged to come out of the woodwork when it became useful?

Those videos of Swalwell with an "escort" had been in somebody's back pocket all this time. Six years. Are we going to learn who those other men in the room were, or is it not useful at the moment?

Fifty former staffers have basically verified that everybody knew the man was a scumbag. How many of those staffers would have flocked to Swalwell if he had become governor, and are expecting to be rewarded for participating in this political hit?

One thing is certain: none of them made these accusations until given the green light by their masters.

There is talk of Democrats and Republicans cutting deals behind the scenes to purge members accused of ethics violations, but so far, all the Democrats who called for Swalwell to drop out of the governor's race have refrained from suggesting he leave Congress. They needed his vote there and needed him out of the California race. So the new standard is that being a rapist is unacceptable for a governor, but not a Congressman.

It's all scummy.

Of course, politics IS scummy, which is why the whole moral posturing act is so infuriating. The same people who get on their high horse about Trump's comments about grabbing women decades ago have been hiding Eric Swalwell's behavior for years. They point to ridiculous stories like E. Jean Carroll's as proof that Trump is a rapist, while they have been hiding a rapist in their midst.

These are the people who happily partied with Harvey Weinstein until they no longer could. Gavin Newsom's wife testified against Harvey Weinstein in his rape trial, but one wonders why she seemed fine with everybody hobnobbing with the same Harvey Weinstein, and why she maintained a good relationship with him (having lunches, getting career advice) until he was no longer useful. He helped her get roles, and she covered for him. Until, like Swalwell, he became a liability.

Politics, being all about power, doesn't attract people with exquisite moral sensibilities, and that is just part of life. I get it.

But Democrats always claim the moral high road, when in fact they have built their party on a foundation of sewage sludge. That people buy the act amazes me.

Editor's note: If we thought our job in pushing back against the Academia/media/Democrat censorship complex was over with the election, think again. This is going to be a long fight.
