Earlier today, I wrote about the latest Democratic Party/Pravda Media hoax and about my frustration with the people who keep falling for the same gaslighting that we have been subjected to over and over again.
People who consider themselves informed, public-spirited, and particularly attuned to the importance of facts and "science" are among the most credulous people in the world, and seem to have the worst memories when it comes to the lies that we are told with metronomic regularity.
This is one of the greatest frustrations I have with my liberal friends, or the ones who I believe to be quite genuine about wanting to make the world a better place. Well educated and generally thoughtful, they never seem to learn the lessons that people who are neither as well educated or obsessed with following the "news" have absorbed.
The Trump era, in particular, has been filled with hoaxes, but as far as I can tell, for liberals at least, the fact that they are lied to all the time makes no impression at all. Even when a hoax has been conclusively debunked, they fall for the next one right away. Most people by now know that when they hear of some racist attack, the chances that it was genuine are less than 1%. Yet the next Jussie Smollett will be believed just as the last one was.
The COVID era, in particular, exposed how corrupt the Democrats and the news media are when it comes to information warfare.
Almost everything we were told was a lie, and even the most transparent lies are memory holed as new narratives replaced the old. Early on in the pandemic the Democrats scrambled to attack Donald Trump for overreacting to COVID, arguing that COVID was no big deal and that everybody should go out and hug a Chinese person in solidarity in order to stick it to Trump.
Nancy Pelosi went to Chinatown in late February, 2024 and encouraged everybody to have a great time there because everything is cool. In April, the same news media that covered this public relations stunt reported that her visit that month was "the first time since the pandemic began." They repeated "first time" often enough, to wipe away the earlier visit.
All through April, Pelosi kept insisting that Donald Trump had been negligent because he wasn't frightening the pants off of people in February.
Countless hours and column inches were spent debunking the lab leak theory of COVID's origins, and even though we all know that this was the likeliest source of the virus it's all forgiven and forgotten. One day the vaccine is 100% effective, the next...you need a booster every few months, and you will still get the disease.

For that matter, before the 2024 election, Democrats were telling people to not take any "Trump vaccine;" after the election you should lose your job if you refuse, and perhaps lose your kids as well.
See for yourself. Without these lies, unconstitutional vaccine mandates would not have been possible.

That's why she lied.

It's not just hoax after hoax after hoax. It's massive 180s with nobody calling them on it but Republicans. And when we do, we are accused of lying about the very things the media had been reporting not so long ago.
Remember the Covington kids? Hoax. "Fine people?" Hoax. "Suckers and losers?" Hoax. Years of Steel dossier lies? Hoax. Hunter Biden laptop is Russian disinformation? Hoax.
I could go on forever.
It’s hard to believe this type of behaviour actually happened looking back during Covid.

It did.

You can't just blame the media, although you can't blame the media enough. At some point, you have to acknowledge the gross negligence of people who keep buying the same lies after seeing them exposed time and again.
Sorry, but "they tried their best and had good intentions" doesn't wash. No, and no.
I can't tell you how many times I have been told that it is all in the past, and we should forgive and forget.
If these were mere mistakes and innocent, perhaps. But clearly they are not. Does anybody believe that the media didn't know that the Steele Dossier was fake? Anybody who does is a fool. The "fine people" hoax was so obvious if you watched the full tape that precisely zero "news" people didn't know they were lying.
So no, it is not in the past, because the same liars are doing the same lying again and again, up to today.

Oh wait, never mind, this was written 30 years ago.

The Pete Hegseth war crime hoax is just another example. Anybody who got spun up about that without seeing more evidence is almost as culpable as the people pushing the hoax, because they are grossly negligent. If you still trust the people who censored The New York Post for reporting on the Hunter Biden laptop, you should voluntarily decline your right to vote because you are mentally incompetent.
Instead, the people most confident of themselves and their grasp of the truth are those who trust the "experts."
