Remember the Columbia Protester Who Wanted 'Humanitarian Aid' for Occupiers?

One of the few truly funny moments during the Spring pro-Hama protests at Columbia University was when Johannah King-Slutzky, one of the protest leaders, demanded that Columbia provide food for the students occupying a university building.

She called it "humanitarian aid." It was hilarious.

Everything about King-Slutzky is hilarious, really. Whether it is her field of study ("theories of the imagination & poetry as interpreted through a Marxian lens"), her lack of a sense of irony, or her sense of entitlement despite being destined to provide nothing of value to anybody in society using her "education."

No doubt she will make a good barista. At least, I hope so. I like baristas--they actually do provide a service of value and can have any ridiculous opinions they like without hurting anybody else.

Unfortunately, King-Slutzky has not moved on to the next phase of her career in coffee making, and Columbia has actually put her in charge of something that really does matter: teaching Western Civilization to incoming Columbia students

Given that Johannah's entire worldview appears to be that Western Civilization shouldn't exist in the first place, I am pretty sure that she is not the best choice to teach this class. Although come to think of it, her views hardly diverge from the views of anybody at Columbia these days, which is a good argument for shutting the place down, disbursing the endowment to a range of new colleges more friendly to Western Civ, and calling it a day.

To be honest, I have no problem with people teaching Marxism in higher ed, or even Marxists doing so as long as there is truth in labeling. Universities have always been places where people could debate ideas.

But as we have seen at Columbia and many universities, none of these people are interested in debating ideas but on shoving ideology down our throats.

King-Slutzky is a perfect example of that: the only reason why anybody knows her name is that she violated the law, violated Columbia's policies, used coercion to get her way, and has a declared hatred for Western civilization.

And now she is being promoted by the very university whose rules she violated as the perfect person to teach Western Civilization to students.

Insane.
