Video: Avatar reviewed by noted film critic Joe Biden

Three days of guesting teaches a blogger the value of a palate cleanser, my friends. Indeed, let’s double down with two views of the movie that is about to break the domestic box office record set by Titanic (and to steal a joke, the director of Titanic must be pretty ticked).

First, we have insight from Joe Biden (God love him), who was bowled over by the movie, though its name escapes him. And in true Biden style, the Vice-President apparently did not see it in 3-D:

Next up, we have the latest from Red Letter Media, featuring the dude whose demolition of The Phantom Menace was called “The best movie review you’ll ever see” by no less than Allahpundit. Frankly, I almost walked out on Avatar, mostly because it has many of the same flaws as the Star Wars prequel. This dude is a bit kinder to Avatar, though I think his discussion of how it is “effective” is really a nice way of explaining how crassly manipulative it is. He is absolutely correct to note that Dances With Wolves and District 9 (nominated for an Oscar today) are both superior films. Content warning.

Part Two of that review is also worth your time. By the way, Part One does take a passing jab or two at the politics of Avatar, and in a more entertaining manner than James Cameron mustered with $280 million at his disposal.
