Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan asked UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, “In what world do you live?” Guterres tipped his hand to show his complete bias against Israel, specifically after the attacks launched by Hamas on October 7. Edran calls for Guterres to resign over his shocking remarks made during his speech to a special session of the UN Security Council.
Guterres essentially blamed Israel for the attacks launched on the country by Hamas. Erdan’s biggest objection came when Guterres said the terror attacks on Israel by Hamas “did not happen in a vacuum.” He went on to blame Israel for “occupations” and let Hamas off the hook. Disgraceful.
“It is important to also recognize the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum,” he said.
“The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They have seen their land steadily devoured by settlements and plagued by violence; their economy stifled; their people displaced and their homes demolished. Their hopes for a political solution to their plight have been vanishing.”
Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005. Gazans voted overwhelmingly for Hamas as their political leadership. The suffering in Gaza experienced by its residents is brought on by Hamas, not Israel. Guterres was spewing Hamas propaganda.
Guterres did acknowledge the family members of more than 200 Israeli hostages taken by Hamas and held in Gaza were in attendance and called for the release of all the hostages.
Erdan posted a statement on X (formerly Twitter) and he wasted no time making a statement that Guterres was disconnected from reality.
Erdan posted a statement on the X social media platform, saying, “The shocking speech by the UN Secretary-General at the Security Council meeting, while rockets are being fired at all of Israel, proved conclusively, beyond any doubt, that the Secretary-General is completely disconnected from the reality in our region and that he views the massacre committed by Nazi Hamas terrorists in a distorted and immoral manner.”
The Secretary General’s statement that, “the attacks by Hamas did not happen in a vacuum,” said Ambassador Erdan, “expressed an understanding for terrorism and murder. It’s really unfathomable. It’s truly sad that the head of an organization that arose after the Holocaust holds such horrible views. A tragedy!”
Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “We should all condemn the attack by Hamas on October 7 absolutely without reservations. No country here in this forum can be forgiving of what happened.” That is certainly much better than immediately after the terror attacks of October 7, Blinken issued a plea for de-escalation as though Israel didn’t have the right to defend herself. Appeasement. It’s always appeasement first with Blinken and Team Biden. This administration helped finance Hamas’s attacks by funding Iran with a hostage swap and by skirting federal law.
The U.N. is toxic, especially when it comes to its long history of condemning Israel for alleged wrongdoing.
Thirty-three Americans have been reported as killed in the violence since October 7. Blinken posed an appropriate question – where is the outrage?
In remarks to the United Nations Security Council, Blinken called on the international community to recognize that Israel has a right to defend itself from Hamas’ “barbaric terrorist attack.”
“Where is the outrage?” Blinken demanded after recounting the atrocities committed by Hamas. “Where is the revulsion? Where is the rejection? Where is the explicit condemnation of these horrors? We must affirm the right of any nation to defend itself and to prevent such horror from repeating itself. No member of this council, no nation in this entire body could or would tolerate the slaughter of its people.”
Blinken also stated that Palestinian civilians must be protected. He called on Hamas to stop using them as human shields.
