Attorney wants to teach Ron DeSantis a lesson about flying illegal migrants to sanctuary cities

Bexar County (TX) Sheriff Javier Salazar, a Democrat, handed over findings from a criminal investigation into two migrant flights sent to Martha’s Vineyard last September. The flights were paid for and orchestrated by Florida officials and Governor Ron DeSantis. It is now up to the prosecutor to decide whether or not to file charges.

Salazar recommends criminal charges be brought against those who organized the flights. The sheriff said he was not investigating DeSantis. He was interested in investigated those around DeSantis who had direct contact with the illegal aliens in San Antonio. Salazar claims that the illegal aliens were “lured” onto the flights with false promises of jobs and opportunities.

Vertol Systems flew the migrant flights to Martha’s Vineyard. The contractor is believed to be behind the transportation of the latest flights to from Texas to Sacramento California. Allegedly, they were carrying documents from the Florida Division of Emergency Management.

Salazar immediately grabbed his 15-minutes of press coverage because the flights to Martha’s Vineyard originated in San Antonio. 48 Venezuelans were put on private planes that flew to Florida and, after a brief stop there, flew to Martha’s Vineyard. At the time he made great noise about launching an investigation. ‘I believe there is some criminal activity involved here,’ He and other Democrats accused Abbott and DeSantis of “hoodwinking” the illegal aliens into getting on the flights. There was never any connection found with Governor Abbott, by the way. Though the sheriff said in the beginning that DeSantis was not being investigated, but just those who participated in the plans, now it sounds like the partisan Democrats want to drag DeSantis into the mix. Can they resist the temptation to try to ding up DeSantis during the Republican primary? That’s not likely.

‘The case filed includes both felony and misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Restraint,’ according to the statement released on Monday. ‘At this time, the case is being reviewed by the DA’s office. Once an update is available, it will be provided to the public.’

With the case now in the hands of prosecutors, there is a very real possibility that criminal probe could ensnare some of the aides of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

The migrant relocation program was funded using Florida tax dollars and overseen by James Uthmeier, DeSantis’ chief of staff, and public safety czar Larry Keefe.

The Venezuelan migrants who were flown to the wealthy Massachusetts island from San Antonio said they were told they were going to Boston, although Julio Henriquez, an attorney who later met with several migrants, said they ‘had no idea of where they were going or where they were.’

There is an attorney with DeSantis in her sights. She thinks he should be taught a lesson or else he will continue to act with impunity.

‘We are investigating the circumstances by which these individuals were brought to California. We are also evaluating potential criminal or civil action against those who transported or arranged for the transport of these vulnerable immigrants,’ Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a statement issued by his office.

Rachel Self, an attorney who is representing the migrants who was sent to Martha’s Vineyard is calling for DeSantis together with his aides to be prosecuted.

‘The fact that no charges have yet been filed has clearly left the Florida authorities with the impression that they can keep acting this way with impunity,’ Self said to The Miami Herald.

‘The people who perpetrated this need to know: no matter who you are, you aren’t above the law. A lesson needs to be taught.’

The fact that DeSantis is running for the Republican nomination likely is her incentive, though since Sheriff Salazar said at the beginning of his investigation that DeSantis wasn’t part of the investigation. Ms. Self isn’t stopping until she teaches DeSantis a lesson. It’s all so predictable. She can take the heat for dragging DeSantis into the mix and leave Salazar out of it. Democrats think we are stupid.
