What's the Point Anymore? Archbishop of Canterbury Celebrates Islamic Extremist

Prince Charles is no longer the Defender of the Faith, and the first female Archbishop of Canterbury has awarded a Pakistani radical Islamist an award for his Reconciliation and Interfaith Cooperation work. He is a big fan of Osama bin Laden and advises Pakistan's government on blasphemy laws. 

What's the point of pretending that England is a Christian, or even Western, country? It is in the process of submitting to the Ummah.

His wife, who attended the ceremony, was wearing a Niqab that covered every inch of her body except her hands and a tiny slit for her eyes.

And what's her #1 priority? Promoting the empowerment of women, she says. She is pro-abortion, pro-trans, pro- every lefty nostrum, and also seems to be all in radical Islamism. Her hero here isn't even British; he had to fly in from his job as the leader of religious scholars in Pakistan. 

Dame Sarah Mullally, the Archbishop of Canterbury, gave an “interfaith” award on the anniversary of 9/11 to an Islamic cleric who honoured Osama bin Laden, it has emerged.

Dame Sarah presented the “reconciliation and interfaith” award to Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi, chairman of the Pakistan Ulema Council, a group of Islamic scholars, at a ceremony at Lambeth Palace on Sept 11.

Mr Ashrafi’s council awarded Bin Laden its highest honour in response to the UK Government giving Salman Rushdie a knighthood in 2007, describing him as a “Muslim warrior”.

The cleric praised Bin Laden, whose terror group killed 2,977 people in the 9/11 attacks, for targeting British people.

This is the modern Church of England, and the modern UK, where an officially Christian country is quickly submitting to Islam and actively suppressing the official religion of the state. 

“If a blasphemer can be given the title ‘Sir’ by the West … then a mujahid who has been fighting for Islam against the Russians, Americans and British must be given the lofty title of Islam, Saifullah,” Reuters reported him as saying.

Saifullah is an honorific originally awarded for military prowess and is an Islamic name that means sword of God.

Mr Ashrafi told the AFP news agency at the time: “We are pleased to award the title of Saifullah to Osama bin Laden after the British government decides to bestow the title of ‘Sir’ on blasphemer Rushdie. This is the highest title for a Muslim warrior.”

He also described suicide bombings in Afghanistan as lawful, supported Islamic blasphemy laws, which carry the death penalty, and claimed Jewish people and Christians were using the war in Iran to target Iran’s nuclear weapons.

The evidence is everywhere. People are getting arrested for praying...silently. King Charles keeps saying that he learned spirituality from Islam. Censorship of people skeptical of Islam is rampant. Muslim rape gangs are protected by the police and the government.

It makes perfect sense for the Archbishop of Canterbury to try to build bridges to members of other religions, but celebrating one of the most radical Muslim clerics who hails from a country that routinely persecutes Jews and Christians is not exactly the best way to do it. 

And to promote women's rights by parading a woman who is openly dehumanized is just the icing on the cake. 

If you look at those photographs, you may notice an interesting detail that is easy to miss: the medal the Archbishop awarded was hanging on Ashrafi's wife, and not him. 

Guess why. It's not to honor her, but because he would not allow the Archbishop to put it on him, because women are unclean. 

Many Brits are saying that the Archbishop is fatally naive, but I am not so sure. This looks to me to be a form of Taqiyya, albeit from a Christian in defense of Islam. 

Nick Timothy, the shadow justice secretary, said: “The naivety of the Archbishop in presenting an award to someone who openly praised Osama bin Laden is staggering – and on the anniversary of 9/11, too.

“Our leaders must face up to the reality that not all cultures are based on the same foundations as ours, and not all share our desire for co-operation and freedom.

“Western political and religious leaders should stand up vigorously for our own values and achievements, rather than apologising for our history or celebrating those who seek to do us harm.”

Travis Frain, a survivor of the 2017 Westminster Bridge terror attack and founder of the Resilience in Unity Project, the terror-victim support group, said it was a “grave misjudgment” by the Church.

“Giving an award for ‘interfaith and reconciliation’ to a man who honoured Osama Bin Laden, the architect of misery for so many of all faiths and a man responsible for thousands of deaths, shows a grave misjudgement by the Church – made even more egregious by the fact that this award was given on the 25th Anniversary of the September 11th Attacks,” he said.

This is gaslighting, not naiveté. She must know that of all the Muslims she could choose, she was giving her stamp of approval to a particularly hostile Muslim cleric. It is little different than flying in the leaders of the Taliban to award them for their efforts to bring peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan. 

There is a whole-of-government effort in the UK to punish Christians for displays of their faith. Reading the Bible in the public square is punished. Even praying silently is punished. But Muslims can close down streets on a whim and ostentatiously pray without the police even looking twice. 

Will Britain soon institute the Jizya, where non-Muslims must pay the mosques for the right to practice their own religion? That sounds absurd today, but who would have bet that the Archbishop of Canterbury would be handing out awards for interfaith reconciliation to a fan of blasphemy laws, child marriage, and terrorism?

At best, this is suicidal empathy. At worst, it is preparing the British people for the Muslim takeover.

The Archbishop of Canterbury has been forced to rescind the award after the uproar, admitting that praising bin Laden didn't actually help interfaith reconciliation.
