DC Police Release Photo of Another 'Person of Interest' in 'Big Balls' Carjacking

As I described here, there was a carjacking early Sunday morning in Washington, DC. The story that was quickly pieced together was that one man had stood up to a group attempting to carjack someone and wound up getting beat up pretty badly. The person in question was Edward Coristine, aka "Big Balls" who formerly worked for DOGE and now is with Social Security.

President Trump was clearly angry about the attack and sent out this photo along with a post on Truth Social threatening to "federalize" Washington, DC.

Two days ago some of the details of the attack were a bit vague. Some claimed he'd fought off a dozen attackers, some specified there were eight. The initial police statement didn't clarify that part of the story, but since then the police report has been released. Police estimate there were 10 people in the group that attempted to carjack Coristine's "significant other."

Mr. Coristine was with his “significant other” when the 10 young people approached them, according to a police report. He told officers that he pushed his girlfriend into the car “for her safety” and then “turned to deal with the suspects” before being attacked. Police officers patrolling the area interrupted the assault.

That group of 10 scattered when police showed up. The cops managed to arrest two of them, both 15-years-old, but the majority got away.

Police officers arrested two 15-year-old suspects, a boy and a girl, both from Maryland, at the scene, according to authorities. Officials said the episode happened in the early morning hours on Sunday in an upscale neighborhood less than two miles from the White House. The two teenagers were charged with unarmed carjacking. The police said they were seeking additional suspects.

Today, MPD released a photo of another suspect in the attack.

Hopefully we'll learn this guy was arrested before the week is out. Meanwhile, a sign showing support for "Big Balls" has appeared near the White House.

President Trump was asked about federalizing DC yesterday and said he was seriously considering it. He also mentioned that he'd made a call to Coristine and expected to speak to him shortly.

Scott Jennings made a point of praising Coristine as "Big Balls" on CNN yesterday, saying he's "set off a firestorm in the Republican Party."

Finally, I think it's worth noting that this story sort of dovetails with another story that has gotten a lot of attention recently, the street attack in Cincinnati. Authorities there have pointed out that despite there being dozens of people watching that attack, only one person called the police.

There's also an obvious racial component to both incidents which hasn't gone unnoticed. The DC attack seems very similar to the one in Cincinnati except in this case the woman who was targeted by a mob (for a carjacking) didn't wind up unconscious on the street.

Six people have been arrested in the Cincinnati attack so far. If MPD catches the guy in the photos above that will be three out of the 10 allegedly involved in the attempted carjacking. Where are these kids parents? How do they now know their teens are roaming the streets committing felonies?
