Charlie Kirk gave a speech last night at UC Davis and, as you’d probably expect, he was not welcomed by all. A group of protesters, some of them dressed in black bloc, tried to prevent students from entering the building, vandalized the outside of the building and smashed a bunch of glass doors.
Protesters at the event also broke 10 glass panels in the doors but were not able to gain access to the building…
About 500 attendees were in the audience when Charlie Kirk was speaking. Outside of the event, about 100 protesters gathered and briefly blocked the main entrance and pathway, UC Davis officials said.
Officials said the protesters, at one point, began throwing eggs and other objects, and there were some reports of people being pepper sprayed by others in the crowd.
Two people were arrested for graffiti and one police officer was slightly injured when someone reportedly jumped on his back and knocked him to the ground. So let’s go through some of the video. First up, they tried to block a bike path preventing people from reaching the auditorium. This rather large guy wasn’t pleased by that.

There’s also video of some of the vandalism. Security is doing nothing and police aren’t around.

But eventually there were two arrests and both individuals were charged with vandalism.

A few Proud Boys showed up and were run off and pelted with rocks.

I’m not sure if this happened before the speech or during it but they eventually came up to some closed glass doors and broke all the glass. These dopes always talk about smashing the fash but mostly they just smash glass that someone else has to pay to replace.

Both Andy Ngo and Charlie Kirk pointed to an article that appeared in the Sacramento Bee which accused Kirk of calling for “the lynching of trans people.” Obviously anyone calling for murderous violence against other people would be beyond the protections of the First Amendment.

The bottom line is that no one seems to have gotten hurt. I guess that’s the best we can hope for these days.
Update: The Sacramento Bee has corrected its story after Kirk threatened to sue.
