Atlantic County Republicans suffered an electoral catastrophe this past Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
United States Congressman Jeff Van Drew, Atlantic County Sheriff Joe O'Donoghue, Atlantic County Clerk Joe Giralo, three Atlantic County Republican commissioners and numerous local elected officials were defeated.
All were successful and respected long-time, popular Republican incumbents.
Municipal strongholds collapsed. The Republican Atlantic County Commissioner Board majority shrank in an instant from 8-1 to 5-4.
This was no ordinary election setback. It was a political earthquake that demands accountability and fence-mending.
