Republican Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna said Saturday she will file a motion to expel Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell from Congress, after multiple women had accused him of sexual assault and misconduct.

Swalwell, as of Saturday evening, remains a candidate for California governor despite multiple members of his own party withdrawing their support of his campaign and calling for him to drop out of the race. During an episode of “Saturday in America,” Luna told Fox News’s Kayleigh McEnany it is “unacceptable” for the California Democrat to remain in Congress, even if he drops out of the gubernatorial race.

“I will be filing a motion to expel Eric Swalwell. It is unacceptable for him to just index his campaign for governor in California but still sit in the House of Representatives. Meanwhile, he was allegedly harassing and potentially raping his own staff,” Luna told McEnany.

The host had pointed to a late Friday statement from House Democratic leadership, including Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, calling “for a swift investigation into these incidents and for [Swalwell] to immediately end his campaign to be California’s next Governor [sic].” The statement notably stopped short of calling for Swalwell to resign his House seat.
