That's how progressivism/Marxism works in the West, too. It's a cult based on the idea that a political/economic ideology can change human nature. Most religions don't even make that claim, especially Christianity, which teaches that we can be saved despite our natures through humility before God, repentance, and atonement for sins. And capitalism accounts for human nature through market forces at an individual level, when everyone can act within their own interests.
