After the Jussie Smollett "incident," we were treated to weeks of breathless coverage and fawning interviews promoting the absurd idea that MAGA thugs who watched Empire roamed the streets of Chicago during severe cold snaps armed with bleach and a pre-made noose, looking for gay black actors to assault.
Do you really think any of them didn't know Smollett was a fabulist, or was this a variation of the Jason Arday strategy of white people pretending to believe absurdities in support of The Narrative™?

It sure sounds bad that three black people have been found hanging from trees in the Southern state, and in human terms it certainly is a tragedy when people die by suicide or get murdered as if they were Canadians seeking healthcare, but none of this is caused by an outbreak of racial hatred from SPLC-funded Nazis or KKK members.
More likely, it is a sad case of social contagion, where one incident sparks a series of others in people who are on the edge.
Not all the victims were even black, but carefully managed, his sad suicide can be spun as part of a pattern worthy of national attention. Implied in the story, one of the suicides is "suspicious" according to the family, for instance.
Death by hanging seems particularly gruesome, so I can't imagine why somebody would choose that method for a suicide. It is dramatic, I suppose, and it's not like a suicidal person is, by nature, rational, but still... As for the murder of Fortune, I hope her boyfriend gets the chair or some other gruesome form of penalty. She had four kids; now motherless.
The Left is deeply invested in the idea that America is filled with racists always on the edge of murderous outbursts of generalized hatred for minorities, when the fact of the matter is that the recent outburst of racial violence is aimed primarily at Jews and white people, inspired by hate campaigns the left itself promotes.
