Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced a series of sweeping measured geared towards curbing the record flow of illegal aliens streaming across the southern border. The Texas governor told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo that state peace officers will be granted permission to arrest and detain illegal aliens, setting up another clash with the Biden Administration.

The Biden Administration has repeatedly sued the Lonestar State over efforts undertaken to halt the migrant flow. Federal officials have argued that immigration enforcement is solely their responsibility while Texas has defied the administration and set up both water and land-based barriers.

On Friday, Texas suffered a loss in the months-long legal battle after an appeals court ordered the state to remove water-based barriers in the Rio Grande. A previous ruling had allowed the state to keep the barriers pending appeal.

On Sunday, Governor Abbott told Fox News that he will be enacting new border control measures almost immediately.
