I have any number of issues with the number of Chinese nationals in this country getting caught for doing any manner of 'janky s**t,' as the man who should be LA's mayor calls truly questionable behavior.
Our universities are packed to the gills with foreign-paying Chinese students who are all the children of party members. They wouldn't be allowed out of the country otherwise, for one thing, and for another, they probably wouldn't have had the hundreds of thousands in tuition to attend at full out-of-state rates.
And they're all chemists and engineers - no basketweaving 'psychology majors' in that bunch.
Doesn't anyone find that strange?
I guess not, because they keep handing out the student visas, just like they hand out the research visas to keep these same Maoist eyeballs in the country after they graduate so Winnie the Jinping and his Politburo know exactly what American test tubes are cooking up.
Or, conversely, smuggling nasty stuff in.

This CHINESE NATIONAL - not even a naturalized citizen or anything, mind you - was just arrested and charged with swapping out the guts of government computers.
Where did he work?
Only at the Maine-Canada border for the Border Patrol.

You know, if you work for the government, you are constantly harassed about not opening unknown emails or attachments, right?
Might be a Chinese spy or ransomware.
Well, who hired the Chinese guy who was physically attaching whole new insides to the computers?
Now, this is where it does take a little bit of a jog to the left off the normal trail of these stories.
The charging documents accuse Mr. Liu of swapping the fancy new processors for older ones and pawning what he took for credit at an electronics store.
Kind of an entrepreneurial recycler, and ho, boy, I'll bet that retailer is in some hot water now, too.
Right now, there is no stated espionage angle.
...According to court records released Friday in Maine District Court, Liu is alleged to have stripped valuable components from government computers, replaced them with inferior parts and traded the originals to an electronics retailer for credit.
Liu, 39, is charged with theft and damage of government property in a case involving 46 altered computers at three Maine border facilities. Prosecutors are seeking to keep him jailed, citing frequent international travel, financial resources and a home close enough to Canada that an ankle monitor might not prevent him from leaving the country.
The alleged scheme persisted after a port director explicitly warned Liu not to move computers or their parts. Investigators later installed cameras that, according to an FBI affidavit, captured the supervisor opening government computers and swapping components during overnight shifts.
The affidavit doesn’t state or imply that the alternative hardware the Chinese national installed on Homeland Security computers might have served an espionage purpose.
The government estimates that restoring the altered parts would cost $20,460. Replacing all 46 computers would cost an estimated $105,800, before additional expenses to configure them for government use.
Mr. Liu first said he was only doing it to be helpful, but then admitted he did the swaps because he was 'angry at computer repairs taking so long.'
OKAY
...The government computers were equipped with 14th-generation Intel processors. Investigators found that many had been fitted instead with older processors or Intel Pentium models. Other machines had less memory or storage than their original configurations.
Investigators also found a potential route for the missing parts: Newegg’s trade-in program.
The affidavit describes 13 emails Liu sent from a personal account to his official CBP email address containing shipping labels and trade-in summaries for processors matching the model missing from government computers. The offers were for $200 or $210 apiece.
Records obtained from Newegg showed that Liu received credit for trading in 14th-generation Intel Core i7 processors 16 times between May 2025 and July 2026, according to the FBI. Investigators also identified three $200 Newegg credits in his American Express records.
The criminal complaint charges Liu with stealing 10 Intel processors worth more than $1,000 between approximately May 2025 and January 2026. A second count alleges that he damaged or attempted to damage CBP computers between January and March 2026, causing more than $1,000 in damage or attempted damage.
...His explanation changed during the interview, the agent wrote.
Liu initially said he made the modifications to improve the computers’ efficiency. Under further questioning, according to the affidavit, he acknowledged knowing that the changes degraded performance and said he acted because he was angry about how long CBP computer repairs took.
He hurt the computers because he was angry...but making some coin on it helped him feel better.
That explanation might hold up, if it weren't for Mr. Liu's background and what people who have followed the movement of the Chinese into the US have learned from the patterns they've seen.
Mr. Liu fits the pattern, having gone to school in Oklahoma, held a government job there, and - BINGO - attempted to start his own cannabis company.
Like a trifecta pointing to 'spy' to the folks who watch these things carefully.

It's a way of both funding CCP ops in the US, and plugging in to shadow networks with cartels for moving drugs, arms, more Chinese agents, and trafficking victims.
This guy also got sent to Maine (hint: US border state) to spy on, steal from, and sabotage CBP computers. The purpose of this would include anything from detailed cyber-surveillance of CBP's ops to the ability to scramble, shut down, sabotage, and spoof (put in deceptive info) the same CBP ops. Think being able to hide/manipulate what China's doing at our border, by planting misleading info or erasing accurate records, etc.
It's a great thing to be rolling back some of the massive fraud schemes out there. We need to give every bit as much attention to this national security threat.
As for his immigration status, that may also be up in the air, as it wasn't addressed in the release, but the indefatigable Steve Robinson of the Maine Wire found that Mr. Liu was proud enough of voting that he posted his little sticker on Facebook

Everyone's watching Somalis or Afghans or whatever Islamic cult member is yodeling through a loudspeaker in Dearborn or outside of East Plano.
But there doesn't seem to be as much interest in watching Winnie the Jinping's loyal minions as they worm their way into the very fabric of this country.
There certainly should be.
