Khanna: Biden's staff "overprotects him" from reporters

HEMMER: “Maybe if he gets the questions first. We were just showing on screen a tight shot of the question that was in his hand the other day on the South Lawn of the White House — rather, in the Rose Garden during the press conference. We wanted to find out from Americans whether or not he should answer more questions. Here is what we found. This is a stunning number again. 76% of Americans, when asked, he should hold more press conferences. That has not happened. As you move into this re-election that you have come back to several times now, he is an incumbent, I’ll grant you that, do you believe he should have debates with other Democratic challengers?”

KHANNA: “Yes, I do. I mean, I am a person of democracy. I think he is actually really good. I think his staff overprotects him. I think, put him out there in a press conference. Who cares if someone makes a gaffe? Every person makes a gaffe in conversation. Let’s see the authentic President Biden. He is an empathetic person. And I think the more he is out there, the better. Do the press conferences. Do the debates. I debate people in Congress even though they don’t have sometimes much of a chance. That’s American democracy. I love that.”

HEMMER: “Sir, thank you for coming on.”

KHANNA: “Thank you.”

[The issue isn’t his staff over-protecting him. It’s that the media is colluding in efforts to “protect” Biden by staging Potemkin “press conferences” with pre-submitted questions while everyone pretends Biden is answering extemporaneously. — Ed]
