'I Was Born a Poor $12 Mexican Immigrant's Child'

Origin stories have always been a fascinating part of American politics. Nothing like a candidate who raised themselves up 'by their bootstraps, ' as the old saying goes, to show how the American dream is a living, breathing reality. Even candidates who were born into relative affluence often make the case that, whatever the blessings of their family circumstances, they had become their own man or woman. Their achievements weren't thanks to living off the family fat, as it were, but grasping opportunity as it came to them, and turning what assets or advantages they did have into something greater.

Trump is one example of that. He took what his father had started dumping into the kiddie kitty in his baby years and magnified it exponentially. Now, Trump had substantially more support from his father over the years than his oft-repeated 'million dollar loan' he had to 'pay back, with interest.' But there's no gainsaying that the billions that accumulated as he built his real estate and multifaceted Trump empire were all the result of Trump's own wheeling and dealing.

Ben Carson is another American politician whose origin story just hits hard. His single mom raised Ben and his brother in abject poverty after discovering the worst imaginable thing about their father that a young woman could.

...Ben Carson’s mom grew up in a foster home and received only a third-grade education. She was thirteen years old when she met and married Robert Carson, a twenty-eight-year-old minister. The couple moved to Detroit and had two sons together. Later Sonya discovered that her husband was a bigamist with another secret family. Ben was eight years old and his brother, Curtis, was ten when their parents divorced.

Sonya moved her sons to Boston where she lived with her sister for a short time. Later, she returned to Detroit and worked as many as three jobs at a time to support herself and her boys. There were days when she left before the boys woke up and was unable to return home until late that night. When Ben was in the fifth grade and came home with an unsatisfactory report card, Sonya knew she needed to ask God for the wisdom she needed to help her boys.

One son grew up to be a world-famous neurosurgeon, presidential candidate, and cabinet secretary, and the other an aeronautical engineer and rocket scientist.

American dream personified.

But lately it seems as if Democrats are grasping to wear skinsuits of childhoods not entirely their own in order to reach demographics of voters they have lost touch with, or in order to have an angle they feel might be a one-up on a more appealing Republican candidate.

It really started last year, when I wound up howling over oleaginous California Governor Gavin Newsom's rollout of his autobiography. As the apparent front-runner for 2028, this was all in anticipation of his cakewalk to the Democrat Party nomination, you'll remember.

I titled my post: 'I Was Born the Son of a Poor Black Sharecropper'

Newsom's psalm to himself was so packed full of easily debunked bunkum that it was hard to know where to begin. It was even harder watching him twitch as he did the public rounds hawking it.

Oh, this greasy phony baloney.

There are times he outflimflams himself, and the performance is so bad, and such a flagrantly outrageous lie, you have to watch, mesmerized.

Like a chicken watching a cobra, cuz that's kind of what his twitchy hands look like.

It was a massive flameout.

As many of the Democrat candidates since have been, as their background stories were heard, absorbed, and then revealed to be not quite what they'd painted.

Graham Platner was singing 'It's a Hard Knock Life' until one learned his daddy was a world-famous architect and, unlike Donald Trump, PawPaw Platner and the Nipple Nazi's mummy were still financially supporting the supposedly hardworking, independent, regular working-class oysterführer Senate candidate.

Abdul El-Sayed in Michigan has been trading on all the medical knowledge he has as a 'doctor,' when it turns out he's never practiced medicine a day in his life, as he has no medical license. It's apparently okay in a fraud-riddled state like Michigan to call himself a 'physician,' but he'd go to jail in New York State for that very thing - misrepresenting himself.

Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed has repeatedly described himself as a "physician" on the campaign trail and in public biographies, despite records showing he has never held a medical license in Michigan or New York.

Much of El-Sayed’s campaign has focused on his medical credentials, particularly his purported experience as a physician. While El-Sayed does have a medical degree, public records in New York and Michigan examined by Politico indicate that he’s never held a license to practice medicine.

New York state law prohibits individuals who lack medical licenses from identifying themselves as "physicians," a title El-Sayed claimed on at least two occasions while in the state. Michigan law also bars individuals from working "to induce the belief" that they are licensed to practice medicine.

El-Sayed’s hands-on medical experience was limited to a four-week clinical rotation he completed after finishing medical school. In a 2022 podcast, he described the experience as "cosplaying [as] a doctor," Politico reported.

So much baloney.

There's also been an effort on the part of Democrat candidates to shamelessly suck up to minority demographics they've been taking for granted for so long, and now find they have to beg for support from them.

Some of it is as simple as adjusting the accent to suit the audience. Kamala goes into bro-speak when she has a black audience, and AOC does a great imitation of hood talk when she gets around a Latino crowd. Of course they do, and they don't feel no ways tired doin' it.

Accents are time-honored Democrat traditions.

What is interesting is how Democrats are now embellishing their own ethnic origin stories to make the pathos deeper.

Or flat-out adding pathos-inducing elements to their story in order to win the immigrant with the saddest background contest no one knew they were holding.

But in California's governor's race this year, there is an actual immigrant running...only he's Steve Hilton, the Republican.

The Democrat, Xavier Becerra, is supposedly a first-generation Mexican-American who is such a stultifying moron in his own right, not to mention the baggage he's carrying as a former Health and Human Services secretary whose department turned tens of thousands of unaccompanied migrant children over to human traffickers, that the feisty Hilton is starting to nip at his heels in polling in what should have been a cakewalk.

Becerra had even been hiding out from appearances because he is so stone-faced and mute in unscripted public moments. His few TV interviews have been unmitigated disasters. But not everyone can run a Biden basement campaign.

What to do, what to DO?

Apparently, the answer that came to the Becerra campaign was to be more Mexican.

A new anecdote about little Xavier's parents started appearing in his speeches when referencing his childhood.

'He'd make it tough for folks like my parents, who came to this country with just $12'

Wow.

Hits you right there, huh?

In a separate interview, Becerra again said that his parents "came" to this country with only $12 in their pocket, the insinuation being that his parents were both immigrants from Mexico.

An important take away here, is him stating his dad came (to CA) in his 20's

I hate to ruin the moment, but that's not what Becerra's parents did, and I'm pretty sure you knew where this was going.

Manuel Guerrero Becerra, Xavier's father, was born in California - the oldest of eight children. This makes Becerra a second-generation Mexican-American, not first.

His obituary states that his father's family moved back to Mexico, but young American citizen Manuel returned to the US not to go to school, but to work.

Becerra's mother came to the States at 11 with her mother and grandmother and never left.

This is awkward.

People are unloading on Becerra's Mexican immigrant childhood fauxry tale.

The more people dig, the worse it gets, and there are records proving all of it, unlike Lie-A-Watha's Cherokee cheekbones.

🔷His mother’s side had GERMAN heritage, so Becerra is not of Indigenous Mexican descent.

These findings contradict Becerra’s claim during the CNN debate that he is the son of two immigrants who arrived in the U.S. with $12, as well as his accusation that @SteveHiltonx was a racist immigrant because he is of European descent.

Thanks @ZeroMalarki for reconstructing Becerra’s family tree from primary records.👍

Needless to say, the LA Times or whatever old print media rags still exist in California won't cover this, which is why places like HotAir, Salem, and open sources like X are so vital to disseminating information.

Xavier Becerra is not only an incompetent who should be in jail for what happened in the Biden administration, but he's also a shameless, pandering liar who, while perfect for any position in state government in California as it exists today, does not deserve to be elected.
