NFL wildcard Sunday open thread

So far, I’m looking pretty good this weekend.  I picked the Jets to win and only missed the score of their victory over the Bengals by a single point.  The Cowboys took care of the Eagles in convincing fashion, as the game was all but over at the half.  But the weekend’s not over; we have two more playoff games to watch today as the wildcard round wraps up.  Can I push my record to 4-0?

  • Baltimore at New England – This should be a tough game for both teams.  The big go-to guy Wes Welker got hurt in the last game of the season and won’t play.  On the other hand, the Ravens’ Joe Flacco is dinged up and their defense has injuries of their own.  Even without Welker, the Patriots are formidable at home, undefeated this season and rarely losing a home game in the postseason in the Belichick era.  I’ll predict a 24-16 smashmouth victory for New England.
  • Green Bay at Arizona – The Packers got the best of the Cards in last week’s meaningless game for both teams.  Arizona has been inconsistent this season, but want another shot at the Super Bowl pretty badly.  Green Bay would like another shot at Brett Favre.  Even though they’re on the road, I think Green Bay will prevail over Arizona in a shootout, 34-31.
