Socialism in the West: Ignorance, Unearned Wealth, and Resentment

More than a few people have commented on the fact that 85% of the members of the DSA are white, and of those, most are the children of parents who have done quite well, are products of the higher education system, and are downwardly mobile.

Few have pursued education that even prepares them in the most basic ways to support themselves, and a good chunk of them have graduated from college, gone on to graduate school to pursue useless degrees in grievance studies, and accumulated unsustainable levels of debt in doing so.

Their indoctrination began, often, in leftist public or private schools obsessed with promoting intersectional oppression politics, which is based on the notion that Western societies are fundamentally unjust. Even if they had not been exposed to that early in life, they have it shoved down their throats in college educations.

If you ever bother to sit down and talk with any of these "socialists," it is striking how little they know about real things, and how much they think they know about how the world works. Some are stupid, but every single one of them is fundamentally ignorant about history, economics, anthropology, or just about anything else. What they do know is that they are the "good guys," and anybody who opposes them is the "bad guy."

One of the key components of their psychology is that they are children of unearned wealth. Few have backgrounds that are not at least middle class, and for the most part they are children of privilege and are aware that they are privileged. Because they have earned nothing, they think that wealth itself is unearned. That doesn't just hold true for individuals, but for wealthy industrialized countries themselves.

+The guest: “I’m a socialist”

-Caleb: What Socialism are you in favor for?

+ Ummm I believe…

-Take a system that you are in favor of, that you would rather be our system.

+”I just don't want it to be Capitalism”

- Take a system that has been proven to work anywhere in any country that is better than our system.

- “Unfortunately, imperialism is hurting those socialist countries.”

These people are genuinely ignorant and stupid. They just repeat the talking points that they have been given!

We are rich by making others poor. Not even Stalin was stupid enough to believe that. Not even Marx, who was amazingly stupid when it came to economics, denied that industrialization was a key step to becoming a wealthy country. Believe it or not, the early communists believed that wealth, at some level, came from work. They misunderstood how wealth is earned and why it should not be centrally distributed after it is earned, but they at least understood enough to make their symbol the hammer and sickle rather than the raised fist of hatred.

Few of these privileged socialists have ever had a real job, and most of the "activists" are actually subsidized to do so. Mamdani, by virtue of his family's extreme wealth, can flit around the world, try out whatever path he desires, and smile his way into office. The socialists who won their primaries with his help are almost exclusively children of privilege, who imagine themselves to be the vanguard of the proletariat, who, for the most part, despise them.

And, almost without exception, they are downwardly mobile. The Democrats' push to shove every person into college has overproduced people who expect to achieve elite status in society, but whose educations are essentially worthless, and even if they have marketable skills, the market is flooded in many cases. Add to that the massive number of immigrants who drive up housing prices and drive down the price of labor, and you have created social volatility.

Western countries have a huge surplus of people who grew up feeling entitled and are searching for reasons to explain their own failure to launch. Hatred of capitalism, the Jews, structural "isms" that oppress people explain that failure, and their faux identification with a "working class" who are far more alienated from the Bolsheviks than their bosses gives them a perceived moral authority to lead the revolution.

We should not underestimate the level of hatred driven by resentment these people have. When they speak of revolution, they mean it. Their model is the French Revolution, in which the educated classes led the masses in revolt, creating an orgy of violence.

Of course, the masses won't revolt because they aren't filled with hatred and resentment. This is not the 18th century in France. But the illegal migrants, especially Muslims, will do as well. They will stand in for the peasants just fine, because that is a group with a similar hatred of Western values.

Of course, just as in 18th-century France, when the peasants killed off the top revolutionaries, the Muslims won't want to be led by the educated class once they have power. The revolution will eat its own.

But the resentful downwardly mobile are too ignorant to know history.
