I am old enough to remember when raping women and children was considered wrong. Even liberals considered it wrong, believe it or not.
Don't get me wrong; liberals will still use accusations of rape or sexual harassment, no matter how incredible, to attack conservatives in order to destroy them. But they use that tactic because they know that conservatives still consider rape to be a horrific crime, so the tactic works as a smear.
But when it comes to actual rapists, liberals will twist themselves into knots trying to explain why it actually isn't such a bad crime, at least if it is committed by somebody other than a white male.

I'm old-fashioned enough to believe that raping a person, whoever they are, is a horrific crime worthy of the worst punishments. It doesn't matter who the perpetrator is, or who the victim; nothing can excuse a rapist, and especially not some insane "it's his culture" excuse.
But such excuses are now the norm across the West, particularly when it comes to "Asian" asylum seekers (from Syria, Pakistan, and Afghanistan in particular, and of course Somalis here in the US).
Joshua Radcliffe, representing Niazal, said that the teenager had gone through the “trauma” of seeing his father murdered by the Taliban and fled to escape the regime.
“There are cultural differences,” he added. “He is not used to a society where women are free and deemed equal to men. He is not used to a society where alcohol is freely available. He is morally at sea. There are massive cultural barriers that have become massive moral barriers.” He suggested that the rapist could still be able to “make a life for himself in this country” when he is released.
For two decades or more in the UK, the "cultural differences" excuse got countless rapists out of punishment, and the law even turned its fury on young girls who were brutalized.

Here in Minnesota and across the country, liberals are excusing horrific crimes because it is assumed that Muslims don't know how to be civilized.

It's a bizarre argument that can only make sense to liberals, who will go nuts when a Westerner uses a mean word that amounts to a "microaggression," but who will turn around and justify kidnapping and rape committed by a criminal from a "diverse" culture. A culture that glorifies rape is better than one that doesn't, so we should not judge.

Minnesota Democrats flock to this Islamic Center to praise how our state is culturally enriched by the wonderful diversity of migrants from places where kidnapping and rape are considered normal.
“We, the undersigned members of the Somali community, write this letter to express our strong and heartfelt support for Qalinle Dirie, a member of our community,” says the letter.
The Islamic center wrote that the convicted felon has faced “the challenge of starting over in a new culture,” and Dirie was known as an outgoing, family-oriented person before “this situation.” The Islamic center said the community has “witnessed his love for his family and kids” and noted that Dirie sends money back to Somalia to support family members.
“[Dirie] has also been an active volunteer in our mosque, Al-Ihsan Islamic Center, where he regularly visited during Friday prayers, Ramadan, and community events,” said the letter. “You’ll often find him helping elders find rides home or staying after to help clean up. His service has never been about recognition — just a quiet commitment to supporting the spaces that hold our community together.”
The letter was signed by Ahmed Anshur, the executive director of the Al-Ihsan Islamic Center. No other signatures were on the document.
Cultural Marxists assure us that we, as a "colonizing" culture, are evil, and that we need to import people from the third world to get the strength that comes from "diversity." Yet when somebody from that "diverse" culture commits a horrific crime, they excuse it because that is just how things are done where they come from.
Yes, that is why we don't want them here.
