No Matter How Much You Hate the Media...

CNN

If you pay attention to conservative media, you have seen and read a lot about the Jay Jones texting scandal.

If you watch network news or read the New York Times, you have seen almost nothing about it. A story that people devoted to politics have discussed endlessly hasn't even been a blip in the Pravda Media universe.

The very first story about the scandal went up at The New York Times last night and hit the print editions today. I checked after seeing a tweet from yesterday afternoon that pointed out the story had yet to appear in the paper, and I was shocked to discover it was true. The story is reasonably good, but it was assigned to their newest reporter, a member of their Times Fellowship class.

In other words, not exactly their highest-profile reporter. I had to search for the story itself because I couldn't find it on the front page or the US politics page. To say it has been buried is an understatement.

Guy Benson, a Townhall columnist, appears to have shamed the Times into covering the story, since it appeared about half a day after he pointed this out. And it is hardly prominent.

To say that if the parties were reversed, the coverage would be different is tiresomely obvious. When George Allen used a nonsense word to describe a rude student in 2006, the Washington Post ran dozens of stories on it and destroyed Allen. Pretty much every Republican in the country was hounded to comment on it, yet nobody quite knew what exactly was being said.

Every Republican in the country is personally responsible for the behavior of any Republican anywhere, no matter how obscure, but no Democrat, including the malefactor, is ever responsible for anything anyone ever does, even if they jump up and applaud for it.

Those are the rules for the media.

The media failures go far beyond burying stories or hyping others. Often, they just flat out lie. Make stuff up. Hoax.

Erin Burnett mouthed this whopper:

I have heard a lot about the Proud Boys, of whom there appear to be a few dozen or hundreds in the country, so I finally looked up their rap sheet, as it were, on Wikipedia. Wikipedia, as you know, is dominated by a few left-wing editors, so I figured I could get a long list of violent crimes committed by them there, if anywhere.

Uh, yeah, no. This organization, which is supposed to be miles worse than Antifa, which riots daily, has literally ambushed and killed officers, and has occupied city centers, does little more than march and be arseholes. Seriously, I had no idea, but here is one of the key incidents attributed to the Proud Boys:

San Lorenzo Library storming

On June 12, 2022, a group identified as Proud Boys by the Alameda County Sheriff's Office stormed a children's Drag Queen Story Time event at the San Lorenzo Library. Members of the Drag Queen Story Hour described the group as reportedly "extremely aggressive" who "totally freaked out the kids," by shouting homophobic and transphobic slurs during the event. Sheriff's office is investigating the attack as a possible hate crime.[148][149]

Now, it is true that there was an incident where a Proud Boy shot people with a paintball gun and seriously injured somebody, but almost everything in the Wikipedia Proud Boy timeline is about various people denouncing them rather than anything approaching violence.

You can read up on the Oath Keepers, another right-wing group that Burnett spends her nights fretting about, here. Any random Chicago gang that pals around with Brandon Johnson has a longer rap sheet.

I don't bring this up to defend the Proud Boys--they are arseholes, excuse my French---but they are not regularly ambushing law enforcement and rioting every day.

Yet Erin Burnett looks straight into the camera and inverts reality, fully expecting, and rightly so, that her viewers will believe her.

She is, after all, CNN.

Our media is as propaganda-filled as Pravda ever was, and as credible as Baghdad Bob. Yet it is so seamless in its unanimity that vast numbers of Americans, who don't spend their time on social media or watch Fox News (which is hardly perfect) have no reason to believe that they are living in a Truman Show.

When a story as big as the Jay Jones scandal can get buried by the major media outlets and be confined to the cable news channels and conservative media, it is a reminder of just how corrupt our media still is.

If you want to understand how Democrats still win elections after all that has been revealed, step back and realize that many people have never seen the evidence. To them, USAID did nothing but distribute food and medicine, Anthony Fauci is a saintly healer, and Joe Biden was George Washington.

You and I knew that Biden's brain was gone years ago; the media covered it up and yelled "cheap fakes" and "sharp as a tack" until Biden drooled for 90 minutes on live TV.

Propaganda works, especially when people are genuinely interested in buying what's being sold. A lot of people find Pravda's message comforting--they and their friends are the good guys, and all things bad are on the other side.

It doesn't matter that it is a lie. If you only pay attention to "mainstream" media, the "truth" is so curated that you would never know it.

: The Schumer Shutdown is here. Rather than put the American people first, Chuck Schumer and the radical Democrats forced a government shutdown for healthcare for illegals. They own this.
