NYT: Fraud? What Fraud?

The New York Times doubts that there is any fraud in the federal government. It is mere speculation, don'tcha know?

You can't make this up. The GAO says that up to $500 billion a year is sent out by the federal government in fraudulent payments, yet The New York Times actually prints that there is no evidence that this is so

Here's the lede: "The billionaire, whose federal cost-cutting team has been operating in secrecy, asserted that he had uncovered waste and fraud across the bureaucracy, without offering evidence."

This, by the way, is the new line in the Pravda Media: DOGE finding waste in government is a hoax. Not true at all. Everything is pure as the driven snow. How dare anybody question our unimpeachable bureaucrats!?

The billionaire Elon Musk said in an extraordinary Oval Office appearance on Tuesday that he was providing maximum transparency in his government cost-cutting initiative, but offered no evidence for his sweeping claims that the federal bureaucracy had been corrupted by cheats and officials who had approved money for “fraudsters.”

Answering questions from the media for the first time since his arrival in Washington to run the Department of Government Efficiency, Mr. Musk stood next to the Resolute Desk and asserted that his work was in the interest of the public and democracy. President Trump sat behind the desk, chiming in with approval as he let the world’s richest man expound for roughly 30 minutes on the rationale for the drastic overhaul of the federal bureaucracy.

The goal is to “restore democracy,” Mr. Musk said. “If the bureaucracy’s in charge, then what meaning does democracy actually have?”

Among Mr. Musk’s claims, which he offered without providing evidence, was that some officials at the now-gutted U.S. Agency for International Development had been taking “kickbacks.” He said that “quite a few people” in the bureaucracy somehow had “managed to accrue tens of millions of dollars in net worth while they are in that position,” without explaining how he had made that assessment. He later claimed that some recipients of Social Security checks were as old as 150.

In the world in which I used to live--or rather I THOUGHT I did--the Pravda Media would have been interested to find out about all this waste, fraud, and, yes, graft. That used to be one of their most important jobs.

No longer. They see their job as the opposite--covering it all up, and no wonder: they are part of the grift. They are in on it.

The press conference about which the Times is so upset was truly remarkable. Elon, along with his son, discussed what DOGE is and is doing. I have never seen anything like it. Watch at least part of it. It will make you proud of our presidency.

I love his son, too.

"All the news that's fit to print" really means "we will lie to your faces and you WILL believe us because USAID will fund censorship organizations to prevent you from hearing the truth."

Lexis-Nexis Risk Management for Government CEO Haywood Talcove suggests that the fraud could be as high as $1 Trillion.

No evidence, New York Times?

Nobody even disputes that fraud during COVID was astronomical--in the hundreds of billions to trillions of dollars. Here in Minnesota one of the larger COVID fraud cases is winding its way through the courts. My friend Bill Glahn at American Experiment has been writing about it for years, and in this ONE case, there were hundreds of millions of dollars funneled into Somali gangs here. One of the ringleaders was a Democratic Party operative.

No evidence, New York Times? What universe do you guys live in?

The Deep State universe, obviously.

Unfortunately, about 30% of Americans will blindly trust Pravda Media, and in that group are some of the most powerful and/or influential people in the country. Some of them are on the take themselves, others are in organizations that are like the Bar Association, and others just trust the media despite all evidence that they are corrupt liars.

Even after the Hunter Biden laptop, the serial hoaxes about Trump, the Biden coverup, and all the evidence that the government has been funneling money to journalists, they just can't grasp that they are being lied to.

Trump declared war on the Deep State, and the Deep State is fighting a dirty war to destroy Trump and Musk.

I really encourage you to watch that press conference. Trump and Musk go before a gaggle of reporters, speak entirely off the cuff about how vital this work is. This really is the most transparent administration ever.

The Times was fine with Biden being "sharp as a tack" and barely sentient enough to talk, totally inaccessible, and trying to amend the Constitution by tweet.

But Trump and Elon Musk answering their questions? That is a bridge too far.
