The Freedom Blueprint launches

Ron DeSantis may not have announced his candidacy for the presidency, but more and more signs he will are emerging.

You already know I think that is a good thing. Given what I’ve seen so far there isn’t a better candidate on the horizon in Republican circles.

The latest sign that DeSantis will jump into the ring later this year is a website called The Freedom Blueprint. Launched over the weekend along with a Twitter feed, it features all the expected elements of a political website, although it apparently is not affiliated with any PAC or political group.

Still, I subscribed to its Twitter feed as soon as I saw it existed (no, nobody pointed it out to me–I am not that connected), and among the few followers who subscribed this early were some heavy hitters in the DeSantis circle, including DeSantis’ genius advisor Christina Pushaw and his press secretary Bryan Griffin.

When two of your followers out of 73 are top advisors to the potential candidate, you have to assume that the DeSantis team is quite well aware of your efforts. I am writing this on Monday and will check back in tomorrow to see how quickly the Twitter followers rack up. I expect it to be rather fast as people discover its existance.

As we all know President Trump’s support has skyrocketed during the controversy over his indictment, and he has used the opportunity to slam Governor DeSantis about a thousand times more than D.A. Alvin Bragg, the political hack who is prosecuting him. This suggests to me that Trumpworld understands that his poll numbers are being held up by sympathy more than anything else, and that the Trump people see Governor DeSantis as a tremendous threat to his political prospects as voting begins.

State polls back that up. DeSantis performs far better against President Biden than Trump does, with polls showing DeSantis beating Biden and Trump losing to him. These polls will likely play a role in shaping people’s choices as the voting nears. Right now supporting Trump is a throwaway vote of confidence for the former president, not a calculated choice for who should be the candidate.

One of the advantages that The Freedom Blueprint has is that they can recycle anything that Governor DeSantis puts out on social media, as it is publicly available. Expect them to avail themselves of that material, expanding the reach of DeSantis’ Florida messaging and anything related to the governor’s book.

It’s a lot cheaper to use this material than produce your own, and it looks damn good too.

The Freedom Blueprint joins Never Back Down, a PAC that is a registered political group that is spending real money to promote DeSantis and take on former president Donald Trump.

None of these moves by outside groups proves that DeSantis himself has chosen to get into the race. By law DeSantis can’t coordinate with these groups.

But lots of effort and money are being put into preparing the ground for his entry.

And when people are spending their own money to help make something happen, they have to feel pretty confident that it is money well spent.
