A nice catch by Centristnet. Two polls do not a trend make, but that didn’t stop Pelosi from crowing about a phantom “sea change” in opinion on O-Care based on nothing more than that much-hyped Gallup poll that popped on Tuesday. To the extent that this week’s numbers tell us anything, it’s that there hasn’t been much of a change. There’s been a small bounce for the bill, yes, but it’s still underwater in most surveys and early indications are that the public’s A-OK with the GOP continuing to fight it.
Now, about that bounce. Today’s Rasmussen tracker:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Saturday shows that 30% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-three percent (43%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13 (see trends)…
Overall, 47% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President’s performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) disapprove.
The daily numbers this week: -21 last Saturday, then -16 on Sunday (the day the bill passed), then -12, -10, -11, -10, -10, and today … -13. Could be statistical noise, but if so, the noise is showing up in Gallup’s daily tracker too: After a bounce earlier this week that pushed him up to 50/44 approval, he’s turned downward again to 48/45. Start of a trend or just standard poll volatility? We’ll see next week, but since every damned poll from now until November will be read as a referendum on O-Care, feel free to read these the same way.
