This chica, I have to admit, is an amazing spectacle of raw, naked panic, and watching her meltdown is just a sight to behold.
Elissa Slotkin is a Dem representative from Michigan who decided to make a jump up this year and run for the Senate.
She may well have been wise not to run for reelection to her old seat, in any event, because she's not very popular, having been one of the main drivers for bringing a truly controversial Chinese battery plant to [correction] a neighboring district who's GOP representative had been fighting the project the whole time.
When a small community in Mecosta County took the fight to Communist China, #ShadySlotkin didn’t just ignore their pleas for help… she was in on it the whole time, and signed an NDA to try and cover her tracks!

When I get to the Senate, you bet I’ll have their back. pic.twitter.com/U4dtwXUaUD
Locals and opponents have dubbed her #Shady or #ShanghaiSlotkin, all thanks to her efforts first to land the deal partially funded by Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) lucre. She's now desperately backpedaling away from it in the name of national security.
People are also somewhat suspicious of her motives as Slotkin is a former CIA analyst (ME operative with multiple trips to Iraq) and a Defense Department official.
Slotkin has a lot of 'splainin' to do about "vetting" a Chinese deal where she's so earnestly concerned about the nat sec implications but it somehow has TWO Slotkin-signed NDAs on file with that very Chinese battery company.
Slick as snotkin if she can explain that. So her campaign's just denying away, hoping it dies a quiet death on its own.
As the November election nears, non-disclosure agreements signed years ago with a Chinese company are resurfacing — and affecting congressional races in Michigan.
...Gotion’s China-based parent company, Gotion High-Tech, has strong ties with the Chinese Communist Party, including having hundreds of its members on their payroll.
The years-long controversy over Gotion’s development dreams was inflamed this week when Republican vice-presidential nominee J.D. Vance spoke at a local farm against the project, which he called “a threat to America’s national security.”
The renewed scrutiny on the deal is spelling bad news for the candidates with NDAs in their closet.
...“What I find interesting about Slotkin is, she had zero jurisdiction to get involved,” Roe said. “She signed the NDA because she wanted credit for it.”
Slotkin was Barrett’s opponent in the 2022 race, which she won. By the time public opinion turned against the Gotion deal, it was too late to factor into that contest. But this November she’s seeking Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat, and the impact of her involvement is yet to be seen.
Last August, Fox reported that Slotkin had signed an NDA with Gotion — twice: first in January 2022, then again with an amendment that December.
This directly contradicted a claim from Slotkin’s campaign two months earlier, when they emphasized to Fox in a statement that Slotkin “did not sign an NDA with or related to Gotion, or any Chinese company.”
“Congresswoman Slotkin has never had any contact with Gotion, period — nor did she ever sign an NDA relating to that project,” a campaign spokesman told Fox in August of 2023, doubling down on the denial.
Elissa - the Democratic word of the day is "knucklehead." Try it - see if it works.
She needs to move on to her other tap dance because this one puts Fred Astaire to shame...although he was a lot smoother.
See, the trust fund baby herself, like most wealthy and privileged children...wait, whut? I didn't tell you her granddaddy started a hotdog company?
My bad.
Happy National Hot Dog Day! We take hot dogs quite seriously in the Slotkin family. My great-grandfather started a meat company after he immigrated to the U.S., then went on to create the Ballpark Frank at Tiger Stadium. Watch to find out how my family grills & eats a hot dog! pic.twitter.com/VKcEajWPe4

So, anyway, Slotkin thinks that everyone should drive an EV. Get out, right?
That's how these people are, and that's how she's voted the entire time she's been in Congress.

But since she's running for the Senate in a tight race against her GOP opponent and with a hugely unpopular presidential nominee (little chance of coattail riding there), she's had a sudden epiphany. No doubt encouraged by the realization that the whole rational world knows EVs are THE poison pill shoved down the throats of the very blue-collar voters she desperately needs.
It's a milagro!
NO ONE SHOULD TELL YOU WHAT TO DRIVE ~ Elissa Slotkin
And Slotkin was never for EVs to begin with - not no way, not no how.
She's a simple farm girl who has never believed in mandates.
That's her story, and she's sticking to it.
Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Elissa Slotkin is running a new campaign advertisement in which she boasts about owning a gas-powered vehicle and says she opposes electric vehicle mandates. Slotkin, however, voted in favor of federal EV requirements just days before releasing the ad.
"I live on a dirt road, nowhere near a charging station. So, I don't own an electric car," Slotkin narrates in the ad. "No one should tell us what to buy, and no one is going to mandate anything. But here's the thing, if there's going to be a new generation of vehicles, I want that new generation built right here in Michigan, not China. I approve this message, because what you drive is your call, no one else's."
And Rogers is sticking it to Slotkin royally in a brutal new ad eviscerating her Mayberry RFD persona.
She's lying to your face, just like Slotkin. They've voted for this for years, they want to ban gas cars. pic.twitter.com/0XY7mWfzU2 https://t.co/B9W9g3g2wh

She's a Class A values fraud in the Kamala Harris vein, and people know it.
Numbers are why Slotkin is doing this late-inning two-step that is fooling no one.
...Fifty-seven percent of Michigan voters said they would oppose an electric vehicle mandate, according to a poll released Tuesday. EVs have a market share of just 4.7 percent in Michigan, a lower share than 30 other states, industry data released this week shows.
In December, meanwhile, Slotkin voted against the Choice in Automobile Retail Sales Act, which five Democrats voted in favor of. That legislation, introduced by another Michigan congressman, Republican Tim Walberg, would prohibit the federal government from issuing any rule mandating electric vehicles.
Local Michigander political wits are absolutely brutal to Slotkin, and she's earned every bit of mockery.
Check out this amusing little number.

It’s the year of the working stiff. An election year where most everyone who’s running for political office is pretending they’ve got dirt under their nails, insurmountable hospital bills piling up on the linoleum table cloth, and grotesque battle… pic.twitter.com/DXpMmvl1DY
That'll leave a mark...or it should.
On the RCP average, Mike Rogers is only down by 3, so he's within the margin of error and has plenty of time to take her down.
Especially as she's doing such a great job helping him larping as a lady of the land.
She's like a phony Mr. Haney, who could pull anything Oliver needed out of his truck and make a deal.
Slotkin is willing to pull whatever she thinks she needs out of the thin air to be to beat Rogers.
Her values haven't changed.
Just her stripes.
