Joe Biden Proved he is Not Ronald Reagan at Pointe du Hoc

President Biden had his big moment in Pointe du Hoc, France on Friday. He stood where Ronald Reagan stood 40 years ago, with the cliffs as background.

It was to be Biden's Gipper moment. He was supposed to look as presidential as Reagan did when Reagan commemorated the 40th anniversary of D-Day. It was hyped as a speech about democracy, which you would think would be easy for an American president to deliver.

The problem is that Team Biden set the bar too high. The Biden campaign enlisted the help of the usual suspects in the media who are working as arms of the DNC to get Biden re-elected.

In case you missed it, Biden was a flop. He delivered nine minutes of garbled mumbling as he drew a comparison between the war in Ukraine and World War II. He tried to conflate Putin with Trump, though he did not mention names, as a threat to democracy. Instead of a respectful tribute to those who died there and to those who survived, it quickly turned into a campaign stump speech. It made me sad to see how far we have fallen in 40 years.

By late morning, an email hit my inbox with the heading, Biden storms the beach for democracy. The sender was Politico, its Playbook PM newsletter. No, no, there's no coordination here, why do you say that? All I could do was shake my head at the naked partisanship. What speech did they hear? It wasn't the one I heard. Biden didn't storm the beach, he was barely able to walk on the beach.

It was depressing to watch the 81-year-old president shuffle to his podium escorted by a veteran. I kept thinking I would rather hear from the veteran than President Biden. Biden's speech was an embarrassment. Those who attended deserved so much more than Biden could deliver.

The audacity of Team Biden trying to turn Biden into Reagan was breathtaking. Whether you agreed with his politics or not, Reagan was considered a statesman and a president who projected strength on the world stage. Peace through strength

When Democrats are in trouble, they pivot to Reagan. They claim to have something in common with Reagan to win over voters. To try to prove that Biden is today's version of Reagan was an exercise in futility. Biden can't string together a sentence or two without botching it. Reagan was the great communicator. Biden slurs his words, mumbles, and stumbles through speeches. Reagan had wonderful speechwriters and he could deliver a speech while keeping the attention of his audience.

Peggy Noonan wrote the speech for Reagan 40 years ago. It is a memorable one to this day. Our colleague over at Twitchy pointed out that Biden plagiarized Reagan's speech.

Biden has a history of plagiarism. He had to drop out of his first run for president in 1988. I guess he thought he was Reagan then, too.

Ronald Reagan was 73 years old in 1984. Biden is 81 years old today. Both can be described as old presidents. It was a common criticism of Reagan by Democrats. They belittled Reagan. They mocked him for early-onset Alzheimer's disease. Joe Biden is deep in the throes of dementia. Reagan was well into his second term before the speculation of Alzheimer's grew loud. Biden is running for re-election though his mental and physical deterioration is apparent to anyone willing to honestly assess it. It is so bad that it is highly unlikely that Biden would survive a second term in office. Hello, President Kamala. We can't let that happen.

Reagan's speech to honor our heroes was memorable and moving. Joe Biden fell short.
